Joshua Steelman (js_novels) | 11 comments Hello, everyone. I'm a fantasy author who hates fantasy, except if it is written by Tad Williams, Patrick Rothfuss, or Joe Abercrombie. Well, "hate" is a bit of a strong word. Fantasy can be a great genre to read, but fantasy novels aren't really known for their quality of writing, so it can often become a bit of a chore to slog through one of those things. I've been discussing this a bit in my Q&A GoodReads group (https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...), and I'm preparing a blog post on the subject (blog: http://joshuasteelman.blogspot.com/), so I've been on a bit of an anti-fantasy kick.

So. . . Marcuria's End. Hey, that's my book! Please indulge me as I drop this brief blurb (you can see the full description on Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Marcurias-End...
):

The world of Marcuria nears its predestined end. This is the last Age. The final Cleansing. Three unwitting harbingers—whose lives have been carefully constructed, vigilantly directed onto dark paths—are being prepared for this culmination. Monsters they are destined to be, not the heroes they always dreamed.

Yeah, just a bit dark, I'd say. My apologies. I didn't start writing until I was in a very dark place in my life as my mental health deteriorated rather rapidly over the course of several weeks until I was left in a state of utter confusion. Out of sheer desperation, I began to write as often as I could, anywhere I could in an effort to "balance" myself out or give me something buoyant that would keep me afloat. "Marcuria's End" saved me. Absolutely. Through it, I found purpose, something to dedicate myself to--a distraction from misery.

I always love making new friends, so feel free to add me here, on Twitter (https://twitter.com/JSNovels), or on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/steelmannovels).
Until we speak again, my lovelies.

Toodles!

Joshua Steelman (js_novels) | 11 comments Thank you! And it's very nice to meet you, Thea. I love your blurb on Twitter: "some reviewers have called her writing dark and brutal. She just calls it honest." That's the kind of writing I love, so I will have to check out your books.
