Alicia Tubbs | 2 comments Thanks to all who responded to this post. I'm working with some readers right now and will not be swapping until further notice. Looking forward to meeting more of you when the time comes. All the best, Alicia

Original post:

I'm looking to swap a completed, polished manuscript with someone who likes to read/write middle grade fiction. YA readers/writers are welcome as well. I've pasted the details about my project below. If interested in reading or swapping (a manuscript of comparable length and genre is ideal), please email me at alicia.guarracino at gmail dot com.

Title: Hunt for the Invisibles

Genre: Upper Middle Grade Sci-fi

Length: 55K

Comparable: If Robin Hood were a twelve-year-old invisible girl, this might be his story.

When a chemical plant explodes near her apartment complex, twelve-year-old Gloria Rey loses her mother, her home, and she’s separated from her brothers. She also becomes invisible.

Determined to use her invisibility for the good, in the face of rampant invisible crimes, Gloria appoints herself as guardian of her friends. As guardian, she saves her best friend Jazzy from getting robbed but humiliates the bullies who were doing the robbing. The dissatisfied bullies enlist their invisible minions to carry out a murder scheme targeting Jazzy.

Gloria finds her brothers only to discover that they also became invisible during the explosion, and they are the minions targeting Jazzy. She begs them not to move forward with the murder plot, but under the influence of the bullies, Gloria's brothers turn on her and move forward with their plan.

Meanwhile, military forces are honing in on Gloria and all invisible persons, as the Department of Defense has mandated the capture of the invisibles for experimentation.

Gloria must escape her pursuers and face her brothers if she ever wants to see her best friend again.

Rick Crawford (rickybruce) | 2 comments Hi Alicia,
I just finished a middle grade sci-fi novella that I want read too. Here's the opening...
It had been nearly two years since his father had disappeared, but to Devon it felt like yesterday. October 15, 2030, would forever be scratched in his memory as the day his father vanished. The investigation had turned up no leads and was now closed, leaving Devon with more questions than answers; and yet, Devon refused to give up hope. The way he saw it, he had one choice left if he ever wanted to see his father again — return to the scene of the crime.

Sounds interesting, Rick. I'm working with some other readers right now and don't want to over commit. I hope you find other readers. Thanks for reaching out!
