The next 5 books on my 2014 list (some are re-reads) :1. The Selfish Gene- Richard Dawkins
2. 1984- George Orwell
3. The Catcher in the Rye- J.D Salinger
4. Fahrenheit-451- Ray Bradbury
5. Brave New World- Aldous Huxley
3 big dystopian classics in there, Brett. Excellent novels!
Let me know what you think of Catcher in the Rye. I've heard mixed things about it!

Holden is a character that is easier to relate to the younger you are. Much like Wuthering Heights, there is an age where you no longer find it appealing. I say, if you're going ro read it, better read it while you're still in your teens, Holly.
I want to re-read my fave Rohinton Mistry books, A Fine Balance and Such a Long Journey.I would like to read some classics again Huck Finn or Catcher in the Rye.
And...all of the Canada Reads 2014...mostly The Orenda by Joseph Boyden & Annabel by Kathleen Winter.
1. Boundaries2. The Excellent Wife
3. 21 Irretrievable Laws of Leadership
4. Childbirth Without Fear
5. anything from Michel Odent
Catch-22 - because it's literally been on my shelf for 10+ years, yes an actual hardcover paper book, crazy...The Time Traveler's Wife
The Five People You Meet in Heaven
Lord of the Flies
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Has anyone tackled any of the five books on their to do list? I managed to tackle three of mine already as crossed out on page one, but I'm struggling to get started on the last two.
lol Iasa :) one more way my kindle makes my reading easier (I know where it is). I've only read one from my list. One I'll have to find a large print paper copy, and one scares me a little (it's supposed to be "a good book", so I'm supposed to love it. I should probably just go ahead and rate it 5 stars and cross it off my list.) The other 2 I'm really looking forward to, but I haven't even gotten to my monthly genre read yet so they'll just have to wait.

Chase wrote: "Has anyone tackled any of the five books on their to do list? I managed to tackle three of mine already as crossed out on page one, but I'm struggling to get started on the last two."I haven't even opened the covers of any of the books of my Top 5 list! :(
Hopefully getting to the next Song of Ice and Fire book in two weeks' time, and will read How To Be A Woman next month for the themed genre challenge.

Iasa wrote: "Chase, I was cooking, guess I put down in the refrig to grab something. I didn't know I had done that until his daughters were teasing me about it."Ah. Makes sense. I do that with remotes quite often.

Not that great! They're all ready and waiting (with the exception of MaddAddam) and I have made a dent in the A Song of Ice and Fire series, but haven't actually managed to cross any off yet.
Holly wrote: "How are people doing with their 5 books?"Only Swan Song (which I'll probably need to buy import), Farenheit 451 (seen this one at the bookstore already) to go and The Kite Runner (already on my bookshelf).
I've finished Can You Forgive Her? and start Phineas Finn tomorrow with a GR book group (Victorians). I have got a few people interested in a BuddyRead there for The Eustace Diamonds in July. Then, hopefully, Phineas Redux in August.
Potentially, I'll get four of the six finished by September!

I've finished Ulysses, and part way through Moby Dick. Les Mis and War & Peace are on my to read list for the summer, so I should get 4 out of 5 done.
Really frustrated I didn't stick with The Count of Monte Cristo.

I finished all 5 of mine! I'm not quite sure what else to Hoo-rah about, so I'm going with this one :)
Chase-
I'm reading Outlander this summer, as well. Although it's not one of my five, it us one I've been eyeing for a ling while.

Old Man's War
Middlemarch
The Five People You Meet in Heaven
Nine Princes in Amber
Except for Middlemarch, they were books I felt like I ought to try out just because they're well known.
My favorites were Old Man's War and Middlemarch.
1/5 on mine so far. Luckily I've included the other 4 in other challenges this summer so I will have to get to them!
Oh my goodness! I just realized today that I finished all 5 of my five books I wanted to read this year! Woo!
Way to go Chase!! I just finished my second book on the list of 5. I hope to start one another one in a few weeks or less.
