What did you think of it?

Violet (paperworldsandswirlsofink) I actually read Ruby Red years ago when it first came out- wasn't a fan. Gwen seemed like a whiney protagonist who didn't know what was going on and wasn't doing anything to help that. Some of her family were really terrible to her and I didn't like those characters, and none of the characters originally appeared likeable to me and the plot didn't seem engaging. However, I reread it this year, and I found I quite enjoyed it. Yes, what bothered me before still did, but not in an overwhelming manner as it had. There's a lot to love about this book- the time travel aspect is really unique and different from others of the genre. A lot of the characters are likeable but just flawed in a very realistic manner, although I'm saying this more in regards to Gwen than her Aunt and Charlotte. Those two have yet to stop annoying me. I think this is a great time travel book.

Chelsea B | 179 comments I plan on starting this book either late today, or early tomorrow! I think this looks incredible! I have about 60 pages left of Coffeehouse Angel by Suzanne Selfors.

Maria Sciarrino (mpsciarrino) This is the first time I'm actually making an effort to read the books of the month. I haven't had time to read a good book in months, so when I started reading this book it reminded me of how much I love reading. Ruby Red was so good I read it in one day! I love Gwen's humorous personality, and I drowned in feels between her and Gideon's relationship. I'm currently most of the way through the third book.

Hannah I've read this trilogy back in 2010 or 2011. I don't really know anymore, it's a long time ago.. :D I really liked the time travel aspect, because this is something you can hardly find in YA these days (or I just don't know about them :b).
I loved the books back then, but that was also because I was like 15 when I read them. Now I see also some flaws with the story like the insta love.
I really like the characters nontheless. Gwen is really cute and Gideon is arrogant but in a good way, if that makes any sense.. :D
In my opinion the books get better with each sequel, so I would also read the other two in the triology. I think this is a cute fun story and it's worth the read.

Kirsty I actually just finished reading this book last tuesday, I really loved it! Although I thought the ending was a little weird with Gideon and her.... but I ordered part 2 right away and it's arrived today!

I can't wait to start that one as soon as I've finished the book I'm reading right now.

Chelsea B | 179 comments I really liked this book! I think that we will be able to connect to the characters more in the next 2 books. I am super excited to continue with the series! I have to say that Lesley seems like a great person! I love the fact that she believes Gwen! I think that she's a great friend to her!

I loved the series but the movie is in German:(

Maria Sciarrino (mpsciarrino) I found a version online that was English dubbed but it's very different than the book

Really!

I am starting this one right now.

Rachelle (mamachelle07) | 91 comments I really liked this book, and I'm so glad! The idea of the novel didn't really appeal to me, but once I started I was sort of hooked. I wish I could've just read it all in one setting (darn work! lol). Here's hoping the next in the series is just as good as this one!

Laura (blueeyebooks) | 88 comments I just got this from the library yesterday and I'll be starting it soon!

message 14: by Dian (new) - rated it 5 stars

Dian | 4 comments I loved it! I read the whole series in Dutch, German and English. I just love the characters and the verses/poems which make perfect sense!

Katie (katiew892) I liked this book. It was very original. At the beginning during the world building parts, I did find it a little slow and the romance too quick. But it picked up by the end. I am very excited to read the sequel!

Kinga (xzellaz) | 25 comments I finished the series last week, all three in like two days, it felt like a roller-coaster. Definitely a good read with strong characters, funny best friend, twists, annoying bitch, battles, kisses!!

Heather (crystalmirror) | 16 comments I really like this series. I have Emerald Green sitting in my "too-read" pile. Time travel is hard to do without being cheesy and inaccurate. Ruby Red has a good balance of elements, in the past and present. You have conspiracy, love and mystery. Plus, searching for identity that everyone goes through some point in their life.
It helps that the translation is excellent. A lot of translations are awkward. You know your reading a translation. If I didn't know different, I would have never guessed.

-RininTa- (rinz) | 103 comments This is such a great story! The main heroine (Gwendolyn) has a really good personality but I don't really like the main hero (Gideon). I like the idea how the story begins and ends with prolog and epilog. I have to say that even the adventure is nice but I think I need more than that. I recommend this for everyone :)

Red (littleredreader) This is long, so sorry if my thoughts are rambled in this. XD

I loved this book. I read it last week. Was it one of my favorite books ever and just can't ever over how much I love it type of book? No. However, I really did enjoy this and as soon as I finished it, I lent it to one of my coworkers so I would have someone to talk about it with. I felt it was a bit anticlimactic, which is normally something I discourage, but in the case of this particular book, I didn't mind. Mostly because I feel like it is building up to something in the next two books. I feel like there is a purpose to this being a trilogy, it's not a trilogy just for the sake of being a trilogy, but really an elaborate story that spans the length of three books.

I wasn't even halfway through Ruby Red when I already knew I was going to want to read the second one and ordered it. Sapphire Blue arrived yesterday, so I dropped the book I was currently reading to start reading this one.

Still forming my opinions on the characters though. I don't know that I like Gwen, but I don't particularly dislike her either. As far as Gideon, I feel like I'm constantly changing my mind about him. The arrogant jerk thing tends to get on my nerves, but it feels appropriate to him somehow. The story itself and the concept around the time travel in this book is interesting to me (especially considering I tend to dislike time travel books, they bore me). I think the fact that this felt like a mix of contemporary/historical fiction instead of your average sci-fi time travel made me enjoy it more.

Puput (pupuutc) | 37 comments Seems that I share almost everyone's opinions about this book. I love it! I was hesitant to start this because this is about time travel. The last time I read about it was when I read The Time Traveler's Wife and it was creepy. This one is refreshing and fun and a little bit confusing. But once I really started, I was hooked and I read the entire series within days.

Red (littleredreader) Damn Charlotte gets under my skin though. She's not even real and I want to punch her in the face, and she's even worse in the second book. Gier does an amazing job at making her so unlikable (her mom Glenda too for that matter), and she gets my blood boiling.

Jaike It was a good read, for me it was not that special. I liked it but I won't read the next books.

Basma | 152 comments I really liked this book !
And the movie was pretty good too :)
Read the entire trilogy in two days :p

Marta (Cinnamon Cookie) (cinnamon_cookie28) | 9 comments Well I have contrasting opinions about this book, because I liked it, but didn't fall in love with it. I enjoyed Ruby Red and Sapphire Blue, yet by far my favorite one is Emerald Green: I've read it in about two or three hours because I needed to know what was happening! If you are planning to start the series, I can only reccomend you to continue reading even if you want to stop, because the final book is worth reading and way better than the first two :)

Marybeth (narutofan14) I red emerald green but didn't like the second one so I stayed away from them but I might pick them up again when I have read all the books that I have right now

Phoenix | 6 comments I loved this book! I read it in german so I'm not sure if the translation was very good, but from the comments I've been reading, it looks like it. I agree with most of what everyone has been saying: the idea is great, the characters are likeable (at least the ones you are SUPPOSED to like), but the romance is a little too quick.

message 27: by Red (new) - rated it 4 stars

Red (littleredreader) I have mixed feelings on the romance. I mean it doesn't FEEL as quick, because it takes the entire first book for anything to happen, but I agree that when it finally does, it is a little out of nowhere. Judging based on the chronological time given in the book, not the length of the book, it is DEFINITELY a quick romance. Head-over-heels, die-for-each-other in love in a week? Really? I feel like just as I was starting to enjoy the romance, one of the characters would say something about it "only being a few days" or "only being a week" reminding me of that short span of time which I'd forgotten, and it would sort of annoy me all over again.

Krista | 97 comments I first heard of this book when it was on the book of the month list. I thought it sounds like a good read and something different than I normally read. Quick read! Loved it the whole way through. Kind of predictable though, but that's okay. Worth the read.

message 29: by JJ (new) - rated it 4 stars

JJ I enjoyed this book very much, although it did seem like kind of a long lead - up to the next one -- So I'm looking forward now to Sapphire Blue :)

Lindsay | 54 comments I really wanted to like this book and it started off good enough but it was extremely slow paced. I was hoping it would pick up but the whole thing turned out to be pretty uneventful. I had a really hard time keeping my eyes open while reading this book. I ended up kind of skimming through the last couple of chapters.

message 31: by [deleted user] (new)

It was entertaining but not my fav

Maruša Kerpan | 2 comments Can someone please tell me what projectio means?!?!? :O i'm from Slovenia and we don't have book in our language so I read it in english. I loved the books and I was very sad when I finished the last one :S and movie is good, but just like othre movies... not so great as books ;)

Lauraeimre | 49 comments I really loved this book. Maybe the main character wasn't the best but it didn't ruin the story :)

message 34: by [deleted user] (new)

Just started this and I really like it so far! It's funny, which I didn't expect!

Laura (acquariusgb) (acquariusgb) | 7 comments I've recently watched both movies based on the first and second book and now I'm curious to read the books.

message 36: by [deleted user] (new)

How are the movies?

Rieko | 9 comments Analeese Evil (Chaolaena Will Survive!) wrote: "How are the movies?"

The movies are German, so the style is a bit different. There are also some changes (especially in the second movie) and the special effects are sometimes not the best. But I still really liked it and I think it's a cute adaptation.

Cool!

Yes, nothing special, but they were a nice way to spend the time during a rainy Sunday afternoon. I watched them in Italian, because that's where I live. I think they are filming the third one right now and it will be out next year.

Rachelle (mamachelle07) | 91 comments What? I can't find any info on the movies! Anyone have any links? I loved the books

Penelope (penelopex) I'm a big fan of the series. The books are funny, interesting, romantic, and well written. I read them last year though so I don't remember all details. I just remember that it was humorous and I loved Gwen's character. I also remember that although it had a very nice ending, I expected something more. I guess I needed more details on what life was gonna be like after and stuff like that... I also enjoyed the first movie and may I mention that the actor they chose to play Gideon is a total babe? I'm still trying to find the link for the second film :(
