The first book was great, that's what kept me going and wanting to read the rest. Yes! I felt bad for the Baudelaire children. Everything was so suspicious after reading this book. So...
what did you guys think of it?

The Series of Unfortunate Events is one of my favorite series. I loved the first book (and the rest of them). I think the thing that really kept me going was the writing style. I always love it when an author tries something new with the narration, and Lemony Snicket/ Daniel Handler did a great job mixing the ridiculous with realistic. The in-text definitions were a great bonus too. Another thing I liked was the letter to editor in the back and the letter to reader on the back cover.

I loved it. I read a little bit of it and I didn't like it, but then my teacher read it to my whole class and I loved it. The book doesn't get good until a little bit so that is why I didn't like it! It was an awesome book. I would definitely recommend that series! :):):):):):):):)

I loved it! I was a great way to start the series!

I absolutely love the first book. I've read it three times! I think it prepares you for the books ahead and gives you a very good basic idea of the character of the characters. It gives them a starting point and room to grow into the beautiful people they become in the very last book. I do find this book to be the most unfortunate of all of the books just because it is the beginning and the beginning of a bad thing is sometimes the worst part. The children are just getting over the shock of losing their parents whereas in the last books they have come to except the fact and know that their parents died as noble people.

One of my favourite series growing up. I recently reread them and I liked it just as much now that I am older. The first one is great but my favourites are probably the second or third one.

The first book in the Series of Unfortunate Events: The Bad Beginning is of course, extremely unfortunate, without the possible ray of hope until the end, when everyone finds out how nasty Count Olaf really is.

I really loved this series. I read the whole series during 4th grade and I believed it's what really got me into reading.

the first book was amazing I was flabbergasted once I got to the first page I could not put the book down any one who has not read it needs to go and buy the book it was awesome!!!!

I loved it

It was awesome

I couldn't get into it even when I was younger.

I mean, I like the first one, but I found it way too far-fetched and the series way to long!

loved it

I loved the first book! I just ordered 2nd and 3rd books in the library today and I can't wait to complete the entire series.

loved it I am always looking for more, I still haven't been able to find the Beatrice letters anywhere

I loved it I am on the 7th or 8th book I don't remember

It's great - although the series gets a bit mad as it goes on. I also liked the new one - Who could that be at this hour?Who Could That Be At This Hour? (Have reviewed it, if anyone's interested!)

I'll join this mutual admiration society! :)

It does get a bit repetitive, but I always loved the whole definition of words play... When they definitely DON'T mean that at all!

Loved it, and the way he played with words and expectations. Great book. I've only read a couple of the others, but I enjoyed them, and will read the rest some day.
