The first one is the official one, the Goodreads author account. The second one probably was created by some spanish-speaking user some time ago due to the fact that the spanish editions of this author show his name as "Andrew Hartley" instead of "A.J. Hartley", so when the user searched the author probably didn't find him and thought he wasn't on GR.
I wanted to merge both authors in order to combine the spanish editions of "Lo que devora el tiempo" with "What Time Devours" and "El quinto día" with "On the Fifth Day", but of course couldn't because A.J. Hartley is a Goodreads member and manages his own books.
Unsure about how to proceed.

Thanks in advance!

Vicky (librovert) | 2462 comments You'll want to add A.J. Hartley as a secondary author to each book, then move it into the primary author position. Once you've done that, you'll be able to combine it with the English editions.

After you've combined them, make "Andrew Hartley" the primary author again but leave A.J. Hartley as the secondary author.

Mateo R. (teoentrelibros) | 24 comments Thanks for your answer! But I tried to add A.J. Hartley as a secondary author and nothing seems to happen.

Vicky (librovert) | 2462 comments Oh, bah. I forgot there's a rule in the system that keeps similarly named authors from being added as secondary authors.

I got around it by changing the author to A.J. Hartley, combining and then changing the author back to Andrew Hartley. Should be all fixed now.

Different editions of a work having different primary authors causes other problems. All straightened out now.
