Book #50 "Eleanor & Park" by Rainbow Rowell-328 pages
Eleanor & Park introduces us intimately to the world of Eleanor, Park, and their changing relationship. At first, the two are complete strangers. Then after the two are forced together by fate, we watch them grow closer.
Eleanor is a curvy, red-headed girl who dressed like a Salvation Army Thrift Store threw up on her. She comes from a crowded household, with a stepdad who is a real piece of work.
Park is a punk rocker, Asian kid who likes to keep to himself. He keeps himself occupied with comic, music, and Taekwondo.
These two will discover on their forced bus rides to school together that they have more in common then they originally thought.
Why I picked it up: This book was in the running for a lot of rewards, so I knew people were paying attention to it. I wanted to see why. I have also read other books by Rowell, and enjoyed them.
Why I finished it: Rainbow Rowell has created yet another colorful cast to grace the pages of Eleanor & Park. If the story doesn’t keep you reading, then the endearing and authentic characters will. This was the cutest romance I have every read. The unlikely pairing of Eleanor and Park was very heart warming.
Who I’d give it too: Anyone who enjoys music, and how it brings people together. Lovers of romance. Readers of realistic fiction, who love getting wrapped up in the story and becoming invested in the characters’ lives.
Happy Reading!
