Jackie, you've read and liked my review of Outlander, so you know I really liked it (and gave it five stars). I'll be interested in what you think of it --hope you like it too! Alas, I missed the TV series; but maybe it'll come out on DVD sometime.Yes, Nina, Outlander is set in 18th-century Scotland (though I realize you were asking Jackie, not me!).
Jackie, is the following IMDb link the movie adaptation of Outlander by Diana Gabaldon?"Outlander" (2014– ) TV Series:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3006802/?...
"Follows the story of Claire Randall, a married combat nurse from 1945 who is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743..."
PS-There's another film called "Outlander" (2008). It has no relationship to the novel by Diana Gabaldon.http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0462465/?...
Writers:Dirk Blackman, Howard McCain
"During the reign of the Vikings, Kainan, a man from a far-off world, crash lands on Earth, bringing with him an alien predator known as the Moorwen."
It's confusing having 2 films with the same name.
Joy, the link in your second post (message 654) is for an entirely different movie, with no relation to the Gabaldon novel. (It just happens to have the same title!)
Yes, Werner, I realize that the second link I posted is an entirely different story with the same title. It has no relation to the Gabaldon novel. I will clarify my post #654.
Here's my review of the film "Any Human Heart". It also refers to the book, Any Human Heart by William Boyd: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Yes Joy, the first link you provided is the TV series, not a movie. They split the season, we had 8 episodes so far and the rest of the season will come back in April.
Jackie, thanks for clarifying (TV series vs movie).I searched around and found that the "Outlander" series is on the Starz Network. See quotes and links below:
"The Starz Network created a TV series based on OUTLANDER which premiered in the U.S.A. on August 9, 2014."

There are multiple books after "The Outlander," and one just came out recently but can't recall the name.
There is no "The" in the first book it's just "Outlander". The latest novel is called Written in My Own Heart's Blood. You can view the order in which to read the series here: https://www.goodreads.com/series/4394...
Jackie wrote: "Yes."I think it is also confusing for books to have the same name, i.e. "Plainsong," I originally read by Wright Morris. I don't recall the latest author's name who used the same title.
I think we're supposed to be in the mid teens. It felt cold tonight with just a bit of breeze & 31 degrees out. The humidity is 83%, though. It just cut right through us while we were riding.
Late this afternoon, the temperature outside our house was just above freezing; but I'm sure it's dropped quite a bit since then.
Our son gave the following book to his father for Christmas: The Sway of the Grand Saloon: A Social History of the North Atlantic. As usual, Ed is devouring it! He loves to read.
Reach your reading goal in 2015/good writing/adventure/history/bios and for the others/science fiction. Happy New Year!
Thank you, Nina. I hope to find some good books to read this year. Hope you all do too.I'll be closing this thread later today. So please move on to the new reading topic/thread. Thanks. Here's the link to the reading thread/topic for 2015:
