Hi Joy. I took a look at your book lists, and your to-read list is unbelievable. However, Pam's is relatively short. So for Pam, despite the fact that you're the psychology major, I'd like to recommend Maria Savva's books. She's a Goodreads author and I love her work. All her characters have solid, real world psychological underpinnings. I hate books with characters who's actions don't follow their background. Or worse, ones where you have no clue as to why their doing what they're doing at all. Maybe someone rubber stamped them "bad" or "good" when they popped out of their mother's bellies?

I know. My problem is that I love books, and I find so many that I want to read eventually. However, by the time I am a grandmother my to-read list will probably be a few hundred thousand book. lol I'll never get to read all of them, but hey...I can try! :)

Sometimes we need shocking. If our lives can be predictable at times and then our books, don't we need just a little surprise. I don't like to read the synopsis just so I can get a bit of surprise. My friends think me crazy. If certain people recommend a book then I general believe them.

Wow! Lynn, good for you on being able to accomodate all those books! I wish my home was big enough. Welcome to the group!
Hello, my name is Allan and I'm looking forward to seeing what this diverse group is interested in. I love discovering new things; I'm the kind of guy that will comb bookshelves aimlessly and just see what will surprise me.
Nothing wrong with being a bookaholic. There are plenty of us here. =)
If you've ever bought books and then had a banana for lunch, you're a bookaholic.Welcome to the club.
Hey everyone! I'm Emily and I'm from Wisconsin. I am definately a bookaholic- I have a tendency to spend my rent money on books. I should probably work on that :) Anyway, I have pretty eclectic taste in books- I try to mix it up between older classics and newer books. I'm excited to start exploring this group and reading all the recommendations and reviews!

Maybe after I graduate college and start making money.. :)
Hi all! I'm Jennifer. I mainly read UF and PNR but I am always willing to try out a new author. So if there's an "absolutely, positively must-read" book out there, feel free to drop off a recommendation.
Hello everyone. My name is Kristen and I joined this a while back but am really slow at making introductions! I read a lot and am always looking for my next favorite author.
Hello everyone this looks like a good normal group I love talking about books I just read the Road by Cormac Mccarthy loved it I'm reading Germ by Robert Liparulo love it also it grabs ya from the first page anyway I look forward to hearing from people....Dennis
Hi all! I'm a big-time book lover, and enjoy all sorts of genres and authors. I also love discussing books. So this seemed like the perfect place for me. I currently have challenged myself with a list of books I want to read in 2010, made up of some books I have always wanted to read and some recent recommendations from people. It's not an exceptionally long list (around 25 or so), since I have two kids and thus not as much time to read as I'd like, but I'm currently on mat-leave so I do have a bit more time to put into reading. So far from my list I've read Timothy Findley's Not Wanted on the Voyage, Ronald Wright's A Scientific Romance, and am reading Egg on Mao by Denise Chong. So quite the varying genres already, as you can see. I read outside my list as well, so hopefully I can read some of the books you are reading and enjoy a discussion. Looks like a great group, can't wait to dive in!!
Welcome: Lynn, Jackie, Allan, Eirini, Em, Jennifer, Kristen, Dennis and Stephaniem. If I have missed anyone, welcome!
Hi, my name is Lindsey, I'm in Georgia. I love books, and I will read just about anything! My mom just turned me on to Good Reads so I am a brand new member. I'm currently reading "The Road" and "The Red Tent", I tend to read two at a time. :)
Hello, my name is Christine, I live in Alberta, Canada. I love all books, and I also read more than one at a time - one in the living room, one in the bedroom and usually one in my handbag. Currently I am reading "Shiver" and "Her Fearful Symmetry".
Hi Christine! I have actually lived in Alberta as a kid (Calgary, near Nosehill). I miss the chinooks and the mountains. Welcome to the group!
Welcome Lindsey and Christina!I also have a tendency to read different books in different places. On is in my backpack for those inbetween times and one is next to my bed (let's face it, sleep is overrated- reading is far more important!)
I am hooked on books.yup . . . the smell of them the feel of them . . . pretty much ever slight nuance that makes a book a book . . . I love. I currently have a personal library of abut 850 that I have lovingly read from cover to cover at least twice.
No specific genre . . . no specific writing style.
In fact it is pretty near impossible for me to even pick a favorite author!
So - umm . . . yeah - that is why I joined this group. :-)
Hello.I have been in this group for awhile but have been too shy to post an intro.Anyways my name is Jess,I am 17 years old(I know I am so young),and I love reading(obviously).I always have a book.It seems weird but Ill go crazy if I dont have one.
I will read pretty much anything with an interesting plot but my favorite genres at the moment are Fantasy and Paranormal Romances, which is really odd because I HATE contemporary romances.
Anyways,nice to meet yall.:)
Hi Jess. - Never too young to read. I was inseparable from books since i was 4 years old . . .It is great that you love to read as a young person - many younger ones dont read any more! Welcome!
Hello everyone! Sorry, I have been MIA for a while. I have had a lot of hectic things going on in my life, and completely lost my drive for a while. However, I am back, and I am going to start up the group reads again! :)
Hope everyone has been having a great time lately, and I am looking forwards to chatting again. :)

Thanks! I've just had a crazy life lately with a lot of stressful situations. I haven't even been reading much lately. :( I'm back in reading mode now... :)
I'm M.D. Birmingham and to be honest I haven't been able to do much leisure reading since Feb 11th, 2007. The year of 2007 after awakening (emerging & merging) from my 63 day non-responsive coma reading wasn't an ability that I was easily capable to do. It's not because I couldn't read and comprehend (as with illiteracy), or my earlier stages of hand dexterity deficits (no gross motor skills). It wasn't because of shortened attention span due to stimuli overload; it was my double vision (best generally explained as a side effect from my coma and injury nature of DAI). Whether it was a large magazine page or typically sized book, whenever I looked at the words on the page it was like staring at a “wordsearch.” All the letters were jumbled on the page and it took much consistent effort to retrain my vision to follow the page line by line; along with my mind. Aside from books and pages with writing, typical exit signs and labels with writing (on doors, etc) that I encountered in my "world" (inpatient hospitalized stay) were seen either as a “wordsearch” or double. The double vision caused the same object to appear as you would see if you were to cross your eyes while reading this. One set of the writing is slightly off to the other side (left or right) and a bit lower than its "twin." I did overcome this challenge through the help of time and creating my own strategies to no longer see double but only one object (like 1year olds or younger, vision tests were obviously not possible). Needless to say, that was only one challenge I overcame to write my own autobiography titled Getting There... and yes I did type it entirely prior to submitting as a galley; along with this whole message. For other groups that I belong to I will cut and paste this information regarding the topic question of introducing myself as it is truth to who I am. During the final days to my book’s “being” before becoming "live" to the public I made the website www.getting-therebook.com which contains links to the web address (photos, etc) mentioned in the book. You are welcome to follow my trail of "crumbs" that will lead you to both desire more and satiation.
Hi Im sandi..I love to read anything but horror( I need my sleep)..but a good book can take that all away anyways!...I LOVE the idea of helping another member to "choose" a book for you out of your own books..what a great idea! it takes me so long to choose ( so many books ..so little time )so I will for sure ask for help there! looking forward to reading & sharing with others!
Hello everyone, my name is Tanya, I'm new to the site and to this group... I figure since I spend a good amount of time reading for both work and pleasure I should join a good site and this came highly recommended.... I'm a little right now trying to get the hang of the site but so far I'm really liking it....
Hi, I'm Bonnie. I'm an author and a Goodreads member for some time but I never posted before. Maybe a few of you have checked out BANANA KISS and BORDERLINE, which
have been reviewed here.
Besides noting my latest Kindle book SIX CLICKS AWAY,
I wanted to talk about genres. It seems this is a group of eclectic readers. Are you interested in reading novels which are between genres? I've had a
lot of trouble getting my latest books published because publishers (and agents!) all want something w/i a genre or category. No literary scifi thrillers
for them!
My stuff is firmly between categories and proud of it.
SIX CLICKS AWAY, for example, started out as a idea about network science. It ended up adding six degrees of separation and social networks to the mix, but turned literary when the characters introduced themselves to me.
And yes, my characters talk to me, of course. My favorite characters in SIX CLICKS AWAY are a young collections operator in Bangalore, India, who can't stop caring about the people from whom she collects,a crazy writer in Toronto and a bag lady. Anyway, don't ask. Just look it up on Amazon.
This didn't start out to be a shameless plug for my new book. Sorry. Nice to meet you all.
Hello! I'm Michelle and I'm new to the group. I love reading and enjoy Goodreads. I'm already a member of a few other groups, so thought I might as well join another! I look forward to getting to know many of you and sharing my love of books.
Hello everyone,My name is Adam and I'm very new to GoodReads and really enjoying "the whole scene". I love reading - mainly fiction - I like books that are fun and not the ones you slog though and find a chore to complete.
Hi All. I've been lurking for a while, on this group and a couple of others. I go on binges where I read cozy mysteries and then switch to urban fantasy (or paranormal mysteries.) Just for flavor I throw in a fantasy or a thriller now and then too. Right now I'm on an urban fantasy kick so I bough Mike Carey's "The Devil You Know" ... only to find out I'd already read it! (Dork!) So now I'm looking at Solstice Woods by McKillip as it came highly recommended.Maria
