Hi Becky!!! Nice to meet you! My names DeeDee.

Hi there Elyse!"
Hi Dee Dee!

I became an avid reader of visionary fiction and nonfiction including fantasy and science fiction as an eleven-year-old boy when my next-door neighbor, who was a children’s librarian, took pity on my single-parent mom.
Bored out of my gourd with no one to play with but good ‘ol mom, I drove her crazy until Mrs. Crabtree brought home a stack of books she knew would hook a young boy and give my mom some relief. It worked. I’ve been hooked ever since.
Now, several decades later, I maintain a stack of books next to my beds as well as writing visionary fiction and nonfiction and coaching other aspiring writers to do the same.
I'm in the midst of giving away 1,000 copies of my book for aspiring writers, From Spark to Flame:
Fanning Your Passion & Ideas into Money-making Magazine Articles that Make a Difference. (you can learn more about that here under the 'Book Giveaway' section.)
Glad to be here among my peeps.

If you'd like to know more about me or have a free read of my novel, PILL POP DOM, please check out my website. I am on the Brit Writers Awards Publishing Programme, for those interested.

Oh hard, WF! One of the things I like most about Gorgie Heyer is her sense of humor: you could start with 'Convenient Marriage' it was the first I ever read and got me hooked--I loved Pell and Pom!!! They had me laughing until I cried!
If you do read it I'd love to hear what you thought of it!

Hi Sabrina! I'm DeeDee, it's nice to meet you!

I'm Kat, an Aussie that's been living in the Netherlands for the last 3 years. I've loved reading since I was a little girl (I've got three brothers and needed the escape)!. I've spent most of this year reading horror, zombie and post-apocalyptic novels, with some other random things thrown in. I've always loved historical fiction and contemporary literature, so I'm looking for some inspiration to get my reading tastes back to a more broad range!

Hi Kat! Do you like Georgette Heyers Historicals?"
I'd never heard of her before *blushes*!

I love her stories! She has so much humor, I can remember reading my very first 'Convenient Marriage' and laughing so much over Pel and Pom!!!

Georgette Heyer???
Probably best to start with 'Convenient Marriage', Pel and Pom are sooooooo funny.
'These old shades' is good, it has a great mystery and a lot of humor, as do most Heyers. It has a follow on book 'Devil's Cub', but I could never quiet forgive Georgie for what she did to Rupert in the second book!!!
My top picks are:
Cotillion
Fridays child
The unknown ajax. But these stories do not contain the usual Heyer Hero, who is suave, quite a bit older than the heroine worldly wise and cynical.....but then I think thats why I like them so much! These guys have faults, weakness and sometimes make themselves look pretty silly!!!! I've done reviews if it helps:

'The Reluctant Widow' is quiet tense almost a thriller in a not too overt way!
Hope this helps!!!

The religious leaders of each community have caused fear, worship, wars, genocide, and every other sick thing that they pretty much do in our time.
The book is long and would be hard to sum it all up, but it is full of vivid descriptions that really pull you into this "new world." I couldn't put it down, sorry I'm not much of a writer myself, so my reviews tend to suck!! haha

Hi Shanon! I'm DeeDee and I'm a new writer too! Welcome to the group!!!

and following your vein of thought, I'm Jeanette and I'm a bookaholic

Hi Tea! Has anyone ever told you your a dead ringer for Judy Garland!?!?! Lol!
I'm DeeDee: welcome to the group!!!
