I am indeed a bookaholic, but I have not yet found a 12 step program for this disease, LOL. Not sure I'd pass even if there was one :)
I am a multi-genre reader. I enjoy a lot of historical fiction, paranormal adventure/romance, I read biographies that pique my interest, latest one was on Cherie Blair, the book was given to me by my MIL, who's British, LOL, so I read it. I also love fantasy, some of my favorites were Piers Anthony, Robert Jordan, Morgan Llewellyn, Anne Rice, Alice Borchardt, & Anne Bishop. I collect occult/Pagan/Wiccan/comparative religion books. Some of my favorite girlhood books were the Black Stallion series, Black Beauty, The Secret Garden, Little Women, the Nancy Drew mysteries (yes, I will admit to that)the Big Red series, Bambi the BOOK, LOL.
Thank you for the invitation, I think I'm going to fit in well here :)

Meg

I like classics - Shakespeare, Hemingway, Dickens, one of Hawthorne's, The Scarlet Letter - his others are snoozers - Dumas, Hugo, etc. Been a while since I read those. Prefer mystery now. So many books, so little time...

So I'm a bookaholic and a really fast reader.
Anyway, I like a lot of different genres, so I think this group will be a nice place to get some ideias in what to read. And share some good books to.
I have the feeling, that this will be fun.

Do you read mainly in English or Portuguese?
What books are popular there ... is it American best sellers in translation, or local authors?

Hi stormhawk!
I read as much in english as I read in portuguese, it depends of my mood and of course depends of the books I find in either language.
Here I thinks that American best sellers sells better than our litterature, I personally don't like portuguese writers as much as the english or american ones. But of course I like the classic portuguese literature, like Fernando Pessoa or Luís de Camões.
Sorry If I made any spelling mistake

My name is Lambert Cheung and yes,I'm an author.
My book is called Red Phoenix Legend.
YOu can find it on Amazon.com or bn.com(Barnes and nobles)
www.redphoenixlegend.com
I will start writing part two next week, but remember, what goes into the second book is largely determined by what the readers want as the old saying goes......careful what you wish for
Currently I am reading "THE DRAGON HEIR" BY CINDA WILLIMAS CHIMA. I will start a discussion on it in the future

Hi Nada,
Welcome to the group. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

i already am. thnx :)

Hi J.D.- wonderful to be apart of this great Group!!

I'm Cate, 22 from Los Angeles, CA. I studied Library and Information Science in college and needless to say, I love books. I have both physical books and ebooks, which I read on a Barnes & Noble nook+WiFi.
I am currently in a Borgias kick... actually, any historical/historical fiction book. So I'm open to suggestions. :)

I love to read and read a wide variety of genre's.
Suprisingly though with as much as I read I am still a horrible speller... lol

Thank you. :)

I began my book blog as a hobby, but it has become much more than that! I am currently working on about 20 review requests (and always open to accepting more!) I also try to have at least two giveaways per month. Any authors who are interested in having me read and review their book on my blog should definitely get a hold of me! My review policy is listed on my blog!

a Science Fiction Story. By the way Cate, welcome to the group

Hi Helen! :) Yep, thanks. I recently purchased that. It's about Sancia of Aragon, right? I can't wait to get to it.
Hello to everyone!

I also enjoy reading non-fic books about travel, history, social/human relationships/self-improvement, cooking and metaphysical/philosophy/occult stuff.
Thanks for the group invite, J.D!

My book shelves are over-full with a variety of things - fantasy, young adult, romance, mystery, history, and non-fiction, mostly, with a sprinkling of literature and scifi for flavor.
I don't read much horror - I get nightmares pretty easily, so that's pretty much out. Urban fantasy is about as close as I get, but I'm pretty picky - vampires are supposed to be scary, not whiny and misunderstood and heroines absolutely have to be able to get themselves out of trouble instead of waiting around for help.

All the best everyone and thanks for creating this group.

Hello Freckleface79. Your line about eating books had me spewing my coffee... in a good way.
Best,

I thought that was pretty funny. I don't know if I would eat them... then I couldn't read them anymore! I would love to be able to do that thing that KyleXY did when he would take a book, flip through it incredibly fast, and have read everything it contained... That would be GREAT!
Welcome Everyone! :)

I write women's fiction, but my books are cross genre - Megan's Way is literary fiction/women's fiction and Chasing Amanda is suspense/mystery/women's fiction.
Megan's Way and Chasing Amanda have both been nominated for Global eBook Awards for 2011 (Winners TBD later this summer), although both books are also paperbacks.
Megan's Way just won the Best Beach Book Award (2011) and also was a Finalist, 2010 Next Generation Indie Book Awards.
I'm also thrilled that Megan's Way is currently being adapted to film. Casting is taking place this summer.
You can read about my books here on Goodreads, Amazon, or of course, my website.
I'm also the founder of The Women's Nest, and hope to make new friends here in Book Haven!
XO,
Melissa

I was going to comment yesterday and wasn't allowed to :( Anyways... I know what you mean. I keep thinking of this movie I saw when I was a kid, where Kim Basinger was an alien. All she had to do, was stick her arm inside a book and she could absorb the story. I would love to do that. I can never seem to read fast enough.

I've read a WHOLE LOT MORE books than I have listed here on Goodreds. I can't remember all I've read in the years past, and I give them away before I remember to list them here. I guess I need to work on that! :-D
