I added Surreal South: An Anthology of Short Fiction and Poetry to the group's bookshelf. Some of these stories were admittedly a little hard to get through, and some were just plain unreadable. But, the rest were pure gold. I highly, highly, highly recommend 'Dog Song', by Ann Pancake. I've got the next three volumes of the anthology, too, but haven't gotten around to them, yet. Lazy, lazy me...

I'm also adding The Curiosity: A Novel, by Stephen P. Kiernan. I just finished it last week, and found it to be much more substantial than the flood of typical love-story novels that show up just in time summer reading. Mostly, it reminded me of a cross between Written on the Body and Frankenstein, which was strange but also terribly beautiful.
