No that wouldn't count. You have to have started on the 8th or later ☺

Thanks Noella ☺

Inês | 583 comments I'm reading this book This Is What Happy Looks Like by Jennifer E. Smith and I have it in hardcover edition, and it has about 400 pages, but I just noticed that here on Goodreads the paperback edition has 224 or something, can I still use it on the more than 350 pages box?

as long as there is an edition that has more than 350 pages its fine. if i click through from the picture link, it says 416 pages so its fine ☺

It says 416 on amazon, and GR for the hardback, so that's fine. :)

Abi (abi_gr) | 27659 comments Mei wrote: "Goodreads can really have inaccurate number of pages sometimes."

Yep. :( I remember one saying 230 pages, so i read that book thinking it would be a short read, turned out it was more like 400.

message 310: by Christina (new)

Christina | 4293 comments I've noticed for some reviews posted, people just wrote % done in buddy reads and have not really wrote any thoughts and then I saw a buddy read not done within the group. I'm not trying to point fingers (sorry) but are rules strongly enforced in this challenge?

I know the main point of the challenge is to encourage more reading :P

message 311: by Sarah (last edited Jan 13, 2014 06:54AM) (new)

Sarah | 217 comments Would Angel Burn (Angel, #1) by L.A. Weatherly work for contemporary? It's more of a paranormal romance thing, but it is set in a contemporary setting ... if not, I do have other books, but I just wanted to make sure.

Heather | 10157 comments what could Crewel (Crewel World, #1) by Gennifer Albin and The Book Thief by Markus Zusak be considered in this challenge?

As long as you read the books in the challenge dates (which you have been doing) put details in your review, so we can tell you've read it. (Which you've been doing, since i've counted all your books you've submitted so far)the buddy read is in this group, and books are over 100 pages, then you'll be fine. :)

People who haven't gone by the rules, get a private message telling them that their review doesn't count, unless (if they can) they change it to meet the rules.

It wouldn't sorry! If it says "contemporary" in the Genre list on the books page, then it will count. :)

Angel burn would count as 350+ pages though. :)

Just to answer your last question - rules are enforced in this challenge, but when a review or buddy read is submitted that doesn't meet the challenge guidlines, that person is contacted via personal message; so while it might seem that they are 'getting away with it' as such, it just isn't made public when a review or buddy read is rejected ☺ Hope that answers your question ☺

Abi (abi_gr) | 27659 comments There's loads of books with love triangles (Seems to be a thing in YA books)
In The Selection she has to choose between two guys. Therefore, it's a love triangle. :)

Sarah | 217 comments Do I have to write a review for my one reread? I mean, it's a reread, right, so ... ?

message 326: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90920 comments Mod
Yes, you have to write a review for the re-read. Normally a re-read should be a book that you haven't written a review for previously, but if you didn't realise that prior to reading it don't worry. We ask that you write the review as proof that you have read the book ☺ Even if you have read the book previously you might feel differently about it this time, or have noticed something that you didn't notice before?

rachel, x (typedtruths) | 8401 comments @Abbie Would this Fathomless (Fairytale Retellings, #3) by Jackson Pearce count as a blue cover? Or because it is dark and light blue, doesn't it count? :)

message 335: by Abi (new)

Abi (abi_gr) | 27659 comments Tayla wrote: "does people on cover have to mean more than one?"

Yes, it has to be two people or more.
It can just be two peoples arms, or legs (ect) though, like this - I Heart You, You Haunt Me by Lisa Schroeder Inbetween (Kissed by Death, #1) by Tara A. Fuller

Sorry Rachel, it wouldn't count. :( The black / white bits take most of the cover up.

Heather | 10157 comments What would The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton and A Great and Terrible Beauty (Gemma Doyle, #1) by Libba Bray count as?

message 339: by Abi (new)

Abi (abi_gr) | 27659 comments Unless you buddy read it, i don't think the outsiders will count for anything.

A great and terrible beauty would count as:
Set in a boarding school
350+ pages
First in series
Paranormal

rachel, x (typedtruths) | 8401 comments @Heather + @Abbie Wouldn't The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton count as contemporary?

message 345: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90920 comments Mod
I think goodreads classifies it as historical fiction.

message 346: by rachel, x (new)

rachel, x (typedtruths) | 8401 comments @Sarah Okay, because I had to read it for school last year and I, personally, would have put it as contemporary. Historical contemporary maybe.

message 347: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90920 comments Mod
But doesn't 'contemporary' just refer to a book that is set in the same time period as that which we are in now?

message 348: by Mei (new)

Mei (meijey) | 3810 comments Contemporary means ‘modern’, so to classify the period of time of books, it could be either Historical or Contemporary. :)

message 349: by rachel, x (new)

rachel, x (typedtruths) | 8401 comments @Sarah + @Mei Oh okay. Sorry! I thought it mean kind plain and realistic fiction. Nothing supernatural or paranormal, just plain fiction if that makes sense. :)

message 350: by Mei (new)

Mei (meijey) | 3810 comments Don't worry, that's exactly what I thought of it at first, too, because most realistic and chick-lits I read are labeled contemporary!
