Faye Don't get me wrong, the hunger games is an ok trilogy but it had many flaws. for example, such a cliché, cant there be any YA novels that aren't the exact same thing. also in mockingjay - all she does is wonder around the compound causing trouble. inn my opinion, it was really hard reading that book as I just couldn't get into it.

however, this is only my opinion so I value what you think and id love to know your thoughts.

Mare Kinley NO! I was so excited when I finished reading Hunger Games. A YA dystopian novel that was actually interesting with a strong female hero. Yay! I recommended it to many, many students.

Then... I read Catching Fire. OK. Not as good as Hunger Games, and Katniss started to get a little annoying, and whiny. But... well, it's the second book in a series; they never quite live up to the first, so I decided to finish up the trilogy and give Mockingjay a chance to redeem things.

By the end of Mockingjay, I was ready to beat Katniss with a stick myself, then take said stick to Ms. Collins for completely destroying a great character.

Ugh.

Emily Appel While I found the first two books to be relatively enjoyable and interesting Mockingjay was down right mediocre at best. As the series progressed I thought the story and writing became more and more melodramatic and the characters and their decision making more and more irritating. Like others have said, I think Ms Collins, sadly, didn't bring a promising story to it's full potential.
