Red Heaven Is the mystery element to this book a decent mystery with a good resolution? Or is it secondary to other elements of the plot?

Removed Removed I think it is a decent resolution. What I really like about it, is the things that are never explained.

Hayley Linfield I think I should try to read this one again since I just didn't enjoy it the first time around. I like a story with mystery and twists, but I felt that this was a mystery just for the sake of a mystery. I wanted there to be a reason for holding back the information and I didn't see that there was one. Perhaps if I had related more to the main character I would have enjoyed it more but after she used the word 'amanuensis' in one of the first chapters I just couldn't relate. Who uses the word 'amanuensis'?

So that's my take on the mystery aspect of the book.

Karla I've read this book twice now, and I just can't seem to recall how Aurelius figured out that Vida Winter was related to his mother. Did I really miss something?

Debbie I loved this book. found it by accident at a car boot sale for 20p. missed the tv program and really wanted to see it. was it any good xx

Rebecca Red, I would say that it is a literary mystery. More of its force is in the characters than the mystery plot itself. The mystery is good, but the author is shooting for saying something bigger than whodunit, if you know what I mean.

The young mr. Lomax overheard his father talking with Vida Winters. He went to school with Aurelius and told him

Joanne Hated it

Red Heaven Thanks for the responses. I think I had enough of things left unexplained with Lost.

Come, now, wasn't the end of Lost perfectly and in all ways clear and satisfying? ;)

Ahem.... I'd say the Thirteenth Tale is definitely more resolved.
