At any rate, I'm enjoying the book so far. I enjoy Daniel Handler's writing, especially the convoluted way he has of making a point.
I haven't picked up a copy yet, but I'm really excited to read this one. It's the first book we've done in a while that I haven't already read way before the discussion. I do hope to get my copy before the month is over though!
I'm hoping to go pick up my copy today from the library! I'm really excited about all the illustrations in this one.
Is anyone else having issues with the dialogue? I'm finding it very annoying how Min tells her story. I don't mind the fact that it's in a letter format, but the way she talks is driving me nuts. I just feel like she's rambling, and it's making me lose focus on the story.

It's convoluted and it sometimes takes a while to unravel things to figure out what he's trying to say (or what Min is saying).
He does something similar (without being as convoluted) in A Series of Unfortunate Events.

I have to agree with this. I was confused throughout the book several times. Unsure of the comments just added in every now and then.

The illustrations and the concept that the story would unfold as Min explained the significance of each item in the box caught my attention.

Who would actually write a letter like that??
I just finished this book. Like others said this book is super heavy. That made it hard to read because my arms would get tired lol. I wasn't a fan of the drawings, I felt like they were juvenile. And the story was meh.

But I find Min pretentious which actually bothers me more :)
I am bummed that I was so busy this month I have heard mixed reviews of this book and would have loved to discuss it :/ I hope everyone enjoyed it (but I don't want to go into the final thoughts log to find out -- careful of spoilers)
