Sara I think I would've liked Paper Towns a million times more if Quentin wasn't so weirdly obsessed with trying to save Margo.

My schoolmates loved that kissing scene and they keep on posting on Facebook how beautiful it was and how they can't wait to watch it on the big screen. Wtf? I mentioned this before, I'm surprised how the Dutch nerdfighter community had no problem with that scene whereas I , who is living thousands of kilometres away from Netherlands, was rolling my eyes in disgust.

Writing a new novel = milking the cash cow

message 1454: by Amanda (new) - rated it 2 stars

Amanda I didnt like it much either.

Mochaspresso The directors of the anne frank house like it when the anne frank house gets publicity. Whenever a celebrity visits and signs the book, they post pics online and they were very forgiving of justin bieber when people were upset over what he wrote in the book. Amsterdam is not an uptight city. I'm not surprised at all considering how liberal the city is in general.

message 1456: by Siobhan (new) - rated it 1 star

Siobhan Aly∞ wrote: "They shouldn't have forgiven Justin Bieber."

I think it shows how humble and gracious they are that they could. Says a lot more for them than it does for Bieber or Green.

message 1457: by Emily (new) - rated it 2 stars

Emily That made me hate Justin Bieber even more than I already did. And if Green writes a new novel, I don't think it should be considered "milking the cash cow" unless it's about disabilty/illness.

message 1458: by Emily (new) - rated it 2 stars

Emily That's why I completely agree about it in this case.

Hannah Peters I totally agree i really didnt like this book. I thought it was over rated. I also didnt see why everyone rave about it and talked so highly of the book. Dont feel bad your not the only one who was dissapointed by the fault in our stars(:

message 1462: by A (new) - rated it 1 star

A So, who all are going to watch the movie???? I'll watch it online for free so that I can have a good laugh.

message 1463: by Lexie (new) - rated it 2 stars

Lexie What a pointless book! It was pointlessly sad, made to tug on your emotions. The plot "twist" was ridiculous. Personally in my own life I am in the midst of 2 similar situations and not always can people be brave and fight the good fight and to read about two teenagers falling in love in the face of death seemed exploitive. The Movie Commercial calls it a "Feel Good" movie????? What???

NL Ayesha wrote: "So, who all are going to watch the movie???? I'll watch it online for free so that I can have a good laugh."

I'm going with my friends because they're all obsessed with it- I know the film will just give me more a reason to scold Tfios

message 1465: by Xu (new) - added it

Xu Same with me. It wasn't a breakthrough like how it was hyped by a lot of people. Glad I'm not the only one who thinks this way.

message 1466: by Sara (new) - rated it 2 stars

Sara I'm going to watch the movie with some girls from my book club because they're insanely obsessed with the book. I'm only going because I think the guy playing Augustus is hot.

message 1471: by Siobhan (new) - rated it 1 star

Siobhan I want to watch for laughs, but I don't want to fund John Green. So conflicted by this!

message 1472: by Özlem (new) - rated it 2 stars

Charlotte Rispin-dureuil I'm so happy to see this! I think it's possibly one of the worst books I've ever read and it's only redeeming quality is how short a book it is. I don't understand everyone's obsession with it.. The plot is just so unrealistic as well as the characters, who whilst being unrealistic were possibly some of the most annoying characters I've ever come across.

Either find a friend so obsessed they buy the CD when it comes out, or go online and watch it on suspicious, questionable websites.

Mochaspresso Siobhan wrote: "I want to watch for laughs, but I don't want to fund John Green. So conflicted by this!"

Technically, you won't be funding John Green if you see it because he sold the rights to the production company that made the film. He doesn't get any money from ticket sales.

At least, that is what he has stated on his website when someone asked him about it. That sounds right because Scott Spencer said the same thing about both of the "Endless Love" movies that were made.

Bea Well.. you are not the only one. I don't like this book, too, but still I want to go to cinema to watch the film so then I can laugh at people who cry at this.

message 1486: by Ella (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ella I absolutely love TFIOS it is by far my favorite book and a lot of my friends too, i'm pretty sure it's the only book that has managed to make me cry and i think John Green wrote the book very effectively and it was very engaging. I think that maybe the books are targeted for young teenagers that love the idea of love and i respect your opinion, but maybe you just don't have the right taste in books for the fault in our stars, because to me i feel it will be famous for a long time and maybe turn into a classic, but i don't know, not everyone likes even the most famous books in the world and even though Shakespeare is said to be loved by everyone not everyone enjoys his plays... maybe it's just due to taste, no one can like everything.

message 1487: by Som (new) - rated it 5 stars

It's a fad and John Green is a commodity, not an author.

I love many YA books, all well written with strong characters and a developed plot which has been adequately researched. That is the basic of any decent book. I did not find it here.

God, what's with all the fanaticals coming up in this thread? Envy that the thread is so long because actually, there's genuine cause for complaint in this story?

message 1489: by Som (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ella Can I just put out there that John Green must be doing something right because he's now a millionaire and the books getting turned into a film, also just because you don't like it doesn't mean you should ruin it for someone else, other people find the book relates to something happening in their OWN life so I don't see how you can say that it's fake! If you don't have anything nice to say about it don't say anything at all because you're ruining the enjoyment of it for others!
