great this was definitely one I was wanting to try out if we like it we should do the whole series.

Yeah, I would definitely like to read the whole series as a buddy read if I like this. I only own the first book, but I could get the 2nd book after I read this.

I've read the first 5 chapters of this, and I'm liking it so far.

America (view spoiler)[I can understand why she didn't want to be entered into the Selection, but I can also understand why she ended up entering. She probably assumed that the chances of her getting picked were really low. (hide spoiler)]

America's mom (view spoiler)[She seems a bit too into wanting America to become queen. I found it kind of ironic that she told Aspen's mom that anyone would be lucky to date her son, yet she wouldn't be happy if she knew America loved him. (hide spoiler)]

Aspen (view spoiler)[I was surprised that he broke up with America. I feel that he overreacted to her making the food for him. (hide spoiler)]

I've read through chapter 15 now. I'm enjoying this book.

America (view spoiler)[Her idea about becoming friends with Maxon is interesting. It's worked so far, but I feel like she's eventually going to like him as more than a friend. (hide spoiler)]

Maxon (view spoiler)[He's a really sweet guy, and I liked how angry he was when she talked about how Aspen had hurt her by breaking her heart. I also found it interesting to hear about the Selection from his perspective, and how it's a lot of pressure to have to find a girl he loves among 35 girls, when maybe the person he would love the most isn't in the group. the attacks (view spoiler)[These seem interesting, especially the whole thing with the two different groups, and how they operate differently. I wonder what they are trying to get changed in the government. Maybe it could have something to do with the castes. (hide spoiler)]

Maxon (view spoiler)[I like how he took initiative to do something about the food problem when America told him about it. That shows how he really cares about his people and wants to make the country better. (hide spoiler)]

America (view spoiler)[It is interesting to see her conflicted feelings. I feel like she's beginning to fall for Maxon, so now she's jealous about some of the dates that the other girls have with him. (hide spoiler)]

Aspen (view spoiler)[I hope that no romance starts between him and America now that he is a palace guard. I really like her and Maxon as a couple, and I don't want Aspen to mess that up. (hide spoiler)]

the interviews (view spoiler)[They remind me of the tribute interviews with Caesar Flickerman in the Hunger Games. They are a thing to let the country know the competitors, in both cases. (hide spoiler)]

I just finished this, and I really liked it. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens in the next book.

Aspen (view spoiler)[While I'm glad he apologized, I hope he stops trying to pursue her. She could get in a lot of trouble if they were, and I prefer Maxon to Aspen. (hide spoiler)]

America (view spoiler)[I hope she becomes completely sure of her feelings for Maxon, because he clearly would choose her if she was sure. (hide spoiler)]

Maxon (view spoiler)[He is really sweet, and I think he's a good guy. I like how he cares about the girls, and he doesn't want to prolong the process for those that he has no feelings for. There seem to be several factors that have to play into his decision, and it must be difficult for him. (hide spoiler)]
