I've never read any of the books nor seen any of the movies. I only know Harry is a witch. At least that's what I think. And he attends a school for wizards.

This should be fun and funny. I had to order my book from the San Francisco Library, and when I picked it up there was a huge label on the front cover saying replacement cost is $115. Lol I was like NO WAY I'M LOSING THIS! Lol Darn label ruined the beautiful cover! Lol

I've only read 2 chapters but have to go to my 15 year old granddaughter's birthday party.

I adore the creative names! I happen to be very fond of alliteration, and seeing/hearing the names is just so fun to me. Dudley Dursley, Dinkey Duddydums, Dedalus Diggle, Dumbledore, Piers Polkiss. No wonder this book is so popular. Even if you don't like the plot, you have to love the creative and fun names.

I just finished chapter one. I had forgotten how this book started despite having reread it last year and many times before.

I love that chapter 1 starts (view spoiler)[ from the Dursley's POV and introduces so many things that you don't understand. I also really like that this book starts with a little back story about You-Know-Who's (Voldemorts) fall and shows everyone celebrating instead of jumping in to Harry's life. (hide spoiler)]

And as Vicki already pointed out, I immensely enjoy all of the fabulous alliteration this book has.

It is the same as what I had read before but I had forgotten how the book started. Although I know what Rowling is referring to since I have read the books, I appreciate how much mystery she introduces to the story with the way she starts it. I also love how (view spoiler)[ the reader gets to learn answers to the mystery at the same time as Harry. (hide spoiler)]

Discrepancy/question regarding chapters 1 and 2: (view spoiler)[ In chapter 2 it says that Harry is going into high school at a public school, but in chapter 3 it says his 11th birthday is happening. Did I miss something? I didn't read of any flashback, so I'm a bit confused. (hide spoiler)]

Crazy: (view spoiler)[First, I'm SO ticked at Mr. and Mrs. Dursley. They are just horrible human beings! I thought it was horrible the way "Uncle Vernon" was getting and destroying all of Harry's letters. It's crazy that they keep coming. I wonder who they are from! (hide spoiler)]

Snake: (view spoiler)[ OMG that was both funny and crazy. At that point it seems evident to me that Harry knows nothing of his magic abilities. But he must have realized that his talking to the snake allowed the snake to escape, or at least that's what I think. (hide spoiler)]
