Alice (alice20) I don't know about you, but I have to have two things going on at the same time all the time. I can't focus on one thing without another thing going on in the background (I know, it's weird). So, I tend to listen to music when I write, but I don't know where to find a good playlist or a complication on Youtube or Pandora that has good writing music.

What type of music do you listen to when you write?

N.J. Layouni (njlayouni) | 2 comments It depends on the story and the scene I happen to be writing. My book is set in an alternate medieval world, so I listen to stuff like Clannad, harp music, etc.

For fight scenes (and mine involve swords!), nothing beats a bit of Metallica to get the blood pumping and the words flowing. :)

I don't listen to music all the time when I write because it could be distracting. But when I do, I listen to instrumental or calming playlist unless I'm writing an action scene. I love listening to the Divergent and Catching Fire soundtrack and score.

I love listening to movie soundtracks too. Catching Fire has a really good one, and there's TONS of amazing mixes on youtube. If you search up "Epic soundtracks" or "Greatest movie soundtracks", a lot of great videos show up. There's even a whole channel "Pandora music playlist" (forget its name but it was something along those lines) that is dedicated to soundtrack videos.
