Brittney (brittney_joy) | 7 comments Any suggestions for an article, blog, etc that breaks down the best way to format an ebook? I currently have my ebook on Amazon, but have noticed formatting issues when I try to upload elsewhere.

Also, where do you have the most success with your ebook? Amazon, Barnes & noble, others?

Jessica (jessicalcozzi) As for your second question, my book is a paperback and an ebook and I seem to have the most success on amazon :)

Jennifer Priester (jenniferpriester) I can't answer the first question because I am a layout designer and use Adobe's Indesign program to format all my books.

The second, I have sold most print books on Amazon. My print version sells better than my eBook. The eBook is currently still Kindle exclusive.
However, I have been highly successful selling print books at physical events that I attend and rarely see any online sales so while my answer is Amazon for online sales I'm probably not the best one to answer this question.

G.G. (ggatcheson) You could go with smashwords and have them format and distribute for you... their manual for formatting the doc is quite clear and easy to understand. It's free too.

Even if you want to convert to epub yourself, having a manuscript clear will help you. I've done both, epub from my regular manuscript and epub using the fixed one and let me tell you that the second one was a lot easier to do.

As for the second question, I sell more on Amazon. I haven't sold a copy elsewhere except one on Smashwords directly, along with the many copies I gave free there.
