I do disagree with your point of view slightly- I wouldn't comment on a book until I've read it because a book is so much more than just the plot and characters. The way in which an author brings it all together into a delicious stew is what really makes a book a book. Meyer didn't do a very good job at it, though, so I guess it doesn't make a life changing difference.
Anne Rice! I haven't read the books yet, but I have watched the Queen of the Damned. I wasn't very impressed, but then again the books are nearly always better than the movies.
