Share your reading goals for 2014

My goal for 2014 is to read 225 books. I usually read anywhere from 3-5 books a week.

My goal this year was 150 so I'm going to shoot for 160 in 2014 and will probably end up raising it to 170 depending on my pace.

I've been trying to read 150 books but the closest I came was 138 in 2012. (Read 122 in 2013.)

For 2014, I'll be happy if I can hit 130.

In 2013 I set a goal of 100 and will finish the year at 123. I think I will try for 150 for 2014... I really want to shoot for 200 but I'm not sure I can do it so 150 is a good solid number... Fingers crossed.

My goal in 2013 was 200 books and I accomplished it. My goal for 2014 is 225 books. There are some great books coming out in 2014 and I'm looking forward to diving in.

If you need any suggestions, try Jess Michaels (of course, lol) and Lisa Valdez's Passion was smoking hot. Also Emma Holly has 2 erotic historicals that are really good as well.

This is tough...I read just over 100 in 2013 which is down from just over 160 in 2012. I think I'm going to shoot for 120. Netflix can wait, darn it!!

I would like to do 50 books. Sometimes I read 2 a week, but this is a reasonable goal since I've never set a book reading goal before!

@Alisha - I'm with you - I read more than my Read shelf has, and to go back and update is a challenge. I'll have to be on top of it with this goal set now as I wouldn't want to miss any!

My goal for 2013 was 175 and I hit 212, I didn't really start keeping track until a few months into the year. I think I will put it at 190 this year - doable while giving me some down time to catch up on my DVR stockpile every once in awhile. :D

ETA - I set my challenge at 200. We will see how it goes. :)

I know I will meet any goal that I set, so my focus is on reading great books this year. I came across alot of duds that past year and I just dont have it in me to DNF a book, no matter how poor the writing, structure, characters, or plot is, I just cant do it. So no more self imposed torture for 2014. But my target is 150.

Lol, thanks! I have already read every book of yours and get the newest as soon as it comes out. I topped myself this year with a total of 547 for the year! So get writing Ms Author ;)

I read every day or if I skip a day or so then I make up for it on a day off by reading more than one. I take a book with me every where too. Ereader's have made it even easier to take books with me so I read when I'm waiting at the doctor's office, getting the car worked on, waiting on food at the restaurant, etc. :)

I read about 2 books a week, so I am going to stick with my 2013 goal of 104 books. I read 118 and I started counting in February, so I think this is a safe goal. I actually want to read less and sew more (I've kind of neglected my quilting hobby this year!).

You guys do blow my mind! But whether you are trying to read 10 books or 1000, I just love that so many people are reading! The official Goodreads tracker has only been up for a short time and there are already 40,000ish people signed up! Last year there were almost half a million readers tracking their goals here! I LOVE THAT!!!!

Last year my goal was 150 books and I barely managed to meet it. So to give myself some breathing room, since life has a way of interrupting my reading, I decided on 100 books. That way I won't feel the pressure to finish in time.

I like that idea, Tracey! I think I'll do a mid-year check up on here if people want to adjust. You never know what will happen to make you do more or less and I think it's always good to change rather than panic and feed bad! :)

My goal is to read 1 book a week. I was reading 3-4 with very little sleep. I do that cover to cover thing too. But I want to focus on balance this year.

After a few months of binging and then another few where I couldn't finish a book in 2013, I'm not putting unrealistic goals on myself. I hope I can get through 30 or 40 fiction reads inbetween the massive amounts of non-fiction I have to read. This year, balance is the order of the day, making it regular, and ensuring that both reading and writing get productive time. I also want to make sure I review what I read. It is a bad habit not to acknowledge the hard work of authors - oh, heck, let's call that the NY resolution, shall we?

Last year...sounds so weird to say that already...anyways, my goal was 500, which I easily surpassed. This year I think I will take it down a bit, as when I set last year's goals I wasn't signed, did not have contractual obligations, or editing. So, this year I think I will take my reading goal down to 350. Thanks Jess and Happy New Year to everyone! Actually read a book in a couple of days so approx 180 books per year. Carry my ipad and read in the car, office when I manage to get time, every spare moment of the day. Happiest time is post 9 pm when everyone has been fed and work done and I get a couple of hours to read in peace :)
