To bring in the new year I thought it would be good to try something new. As this is usually a chaotic time of year though I only aim to read 4 books. Now for the challenge...

Book 1 - A book by an Author you haven't read before
Book 2 - A Book from a genre you wouldn't normally read
Book 3 - The oldest book on your TBR list
Book 4 - The fourth book on your TBR list

Good Luck :)

Book 4 Dead Sky

Not to rush you or anything, but I'm going to the bookstore this weekend. Do you know what the February challenge is going to be?

ok,
So I'm going to alter my list a little

book 1 is going to be Restraint - Charlotte Stein instead, I'm just struggling to get into Fatherland, I think I needed a light read instead

Rachel (hrhrach) | 75 comments Well I just saw these but i did number one like 4 times? Lol

Megan Dixon | 268 comments Mod
Haha. I have done pretty poorly with this one
progress 2/4

message 11: by Marjory (new)

Marjory (marmbrust) | 208 comments I actually have done 3 out of the four, with one and 1/2 books in between. But January is not over and the fourth book is at home, but decided to do a buddy read with it instead.

Thanks for the ideas to pick some books Megan!

Awesome work Marjory. I have a massive weekend (being Australia Day long weekend here) so prob very little reading time :(

message 13: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (hrhrach) | 75 comments Is that like our Independence Day..4th of July in USA?

message 14: by Megan (new)

Megan Dixon | 268 comments Mod
Pretty much. It's in honor of our federation (being formed as our own country, though we still don't have independence from England). Its a n excuse for a massive party weekend

Rachel (hrhrach) | 75 comments Lol good enough for me!!! I am so dumb re current events. I'm more into reading about the past how sad lol I don't think I knew you weren't Independent from Eng!!!

Haha, its not dumb, Im not too good with American history etc. I don't really understand all the politics behind it, but basically we still answer to the queen. But we are a pretty new country by comparison.
But Australia day is our day to be proud of what we have. And for us its about getting together with mates, putting on a costume and making an ass of yourself in public all for a laugh. Good food, good drinks and great mates. :D

Inkeri Sounds like a lot of fun to me! Have a great weekend Megan! Have you already decided who/what you're gonna dress as?

It is going to be brilliant. Im going as Kim from Kath and Kim (google the Australian Kath and Kim - Kim is the younger one) and my hubby is going as dame Edna (not sure if you know her or not, but you can google her too) neither of us have any shame

message 19: by Inkeri (new)

Inkeri I sure know Dame Edna! I googled Kath and Kim, they seem familiar somehow. I guess I've seen at least some version of them on TV. I bet you'll look awesome! I really want to pictures! :D
