Tammy K. (rambles_of_a_reader) This buddy request is for the Squanto Undead: Wake the Undead in this collected edition Aka
(Squanto Undead Omnibus) Squanto Undead Wake the Undead Collected Edition by Stacy Buck

http://www.amazon.com/Squanto-Undead-...

There are five episodes in this edition (1-5)
The book was free on Amazon in the month of December and was listed on our groups free page, so there is a strong chance that you may have an e-copy of it.
I’d like to host (or have it hosted) a Buddy Read on the books Goodreads page.
All goodreads members are welcome to participate.

According to the titles Amazon pages

Part one is 60 pages
Part two is 56 pages
Part three is 52 page
Part four is 58 pages
Part five is 35 Pages

Amazon has the Omnibus edition listed as 248 pages but when I add the pages together just from this information I get 261 pages. So maybe they count to table of content and author bio?

Anyway I was thinking that based on how fast you all read, we could do one day of reading followed by one day of discussion for each part.

I am thinking it would be good to start this the second weekend of the month having allotted time for the BOTM to complete itself or at least be almost done.

Are there any takers?

Randy Harmelink | 2188 comments I'm game, if I ever finish Desolation... :)

Tammy K. (rambles_of_a_reader) Randy wrote: "I'm game, if I ever finish Desolation... :)"

LOL
I will count you as a definite Maybe.

Netanella | 2108 comments I'll buddy read as well.

Tammy K. (rambles_of_a_reader) Netanella wrote: "I'll buddy read as well."

Awesome :-)
-----

How does a start date of Friday, January 10th sound?

How many days do you each of you feel that you need for each part?
One day to read each part?
Two days to read each part?
Three day to read each part?

One day for discussion or should we have Randy set up threads for each part on the omnibus edition page?

Netanella | 2108 comments It looks like each episode is about 50-60 pages, so I'd estimate about 2 days for me - I'll be travelling/working in mid-January, so I won't be reading and posting until late evening.

I'm good with however much time you and Randy (and anyone who joins us) want to take.

I have a couple important birthdays in my family the first week of Jan.
Which in all honesty is why I want to wait until the second weekend, other than the delay start, I am wide open for this buddy read.

Stacy Buck | 12 comments Hey guys, I wanted to let you know that Squanto Undead Collected Edition is free today! Don't pay for it! If you get this late just let me know and I'll send you a free copy, but just this last weekend I did a complete edit of the entire script. If you have a copy from a previous date please don't review that version. Download the book free today or get in contact with me. Here's a link to the book on amazon.com for free.

Netanella | 2108 comments Hi Stacy, I got the book on Dec. 18, so prior to your edit. I can't figure out how to update the download on the Amazon site. Can you help an old woman out?

Randy Harmelink | 2188 comments Stacy wrote: "If you have a copy from a previous date please don't review that version."

You need to let Amazon know you've uploaded the changes, so anyone that already purchased the book can get the update from Amazon.

Tammy K. (rambles_of_a_reader) I agree with both Netanella and Randy.
I got my copy on Dec 18.
On the link that you provided to the books title page it says the publishing date is December 3, 2013.
If you have made edits to your title than please click the link below and update the title through amazon
https://kdp.amazon.com/help?topicId=A...

Otherwise, I think we are good to go Yes?

Stacy Buck | 12 comments Thanks for the help guys. This is my first published book so this is all very new for me. If you want I can email you a mobi file to be uploaded to your tablet. Just send me a direct message or email me at Buckwild313@myself.com and I'll respond with the file. I apologize for the inconvenience. There were no major story changes, but there were a number of grammar/spelling type errors that I did not want impacting your reading experience. I wasn't able to afford a professional edit so I had my first reader / wife do a line edit followed by a number of edits that I did personally. Even with all those edits there just wasn't enough time between the original first draft and my edits to correctly "see" all the spelling/word mix errors. I'll use that link and get everyone notified.

Stacy Buck | 12 comments I've contacted amazon regarding the issue. Just to clarify the book is not unreadable and was good enough to receive 5 star reviews, but good enough is not what I'm striving for. Anything that pulls the reader from the story is unacceptable. I know even traditionally published books have the occasional spelling error. It just bugs the crap out of me that I wasn't able to catch them previously.

Here's a link to the first episode. It was by far the biggest offender of the series as far as errors were concerned, and the 5 star reviews it received.

Tammy K. (rambles_of_a_reader) Speaking just for myself here., I am not concerned with minor typos/spelling errors.
I totally suck at grammar. It's the only subject in school that I hated.
If a book has grammar issues, I'll note it based on its interference with the enjoyability of the book.
It's rare that I dock more than a half star for grammar issues.
I zero in on characters, well thought out plots, vivid settings, decent plot of resolutions, believable character relationships (interaction). And last but certainly not the least, originality of the storyline.
:-D

I'll pass on an updated copy. I will keep in mind that you've offered and that it does exist.

Stacy Buck | 12 comments If you change your mind just let me know and the offer to provide the current version still stands.

Thanks,

Stacy

Sporkmuffins | 18 comments The eBook has been procured. I am prepared for the buddy read. I tried a group read or two, but I kept finishing the book in a few days..and then I couldn't remember what happened when, so I didn't want to post.
I feel as if this may work a little better for me. =]
So, I can just check back here for the discussion? Also, is the 10th a set date?

Tammy K. (rambles_of_a_reader) Sporkmuffins wrote: "The eBook has been procured. I am prepared for the buddy read. I tried a group read or two, but I kept finishing the book in a few days..and then I couldn't remember what happened when, so I didn't..."

We are shooting to start the read Friday the 10th.
Netanella would like two days to read each part followed by one day of discussion.
I'm heading off to a Birthday party in 10 mins or so, so I can't get the discussion threads started ATM. However, we will be holding the discussions on the omnibus goodreads page at the bottom.
That way anyone can join in the discussion not just Zombies group members.
:-D
-------

Note to Randy and or Netanella, if you have time tonight can you create the discussion links? If not I'll do it tomorrow.

message 18: by Stacy (new)

Stacy Buck | 12 comments If anyone else wants to join in and get it directly from amazon I made the collected edition 99 cents for a limited time for this event. I appreciate you guys giving it a read and wanted to make it as painless as possible.

Tammy K. (rambles_of_a_reader) Those who are participating in this buddy read should click on the links above to join in the discussion.
We just started discussing part one (Chapters 1-5 in the omnibus) today.

Randy Harmelink | 2188 comments Sigh. Behind again.

Although I did finish the Better Stay Dead part 1 in time. :)

Netanella | 2108 comments Squanto is an easy read - lots of action scenes, moves quickly. You can catch up!

It's all good buddy. When I was making dinner tonight, I thought about you and wondered if I should make a post to let that thread know that..
While getting you to read a book quickly might be likened to moving a mountain, your completion of reading a book which you have committed to, is as certain as night preceding the day.. or is that day preceding the night?

Randy Harmelink | 2188 comments I don't know -- I was accused of not being able to read zombie books correctly. :(

I didn't know there was an art to it.

I admit to looking at the January BOTM thread. *shakes head*
Teresa sized her up pretty well.
Netanella followed up nicely.
This group surely is "spirited".
Overall it is a good BOTM discussion and yes.. a bit amusing. :-)

I say, Let it roll off you like water on a ducks back and move on.
I give you all credit for pushing on in that series. I simply couldn't do it.

Randy Harmelink | 2188 comments I tried to adhere to the first rule of the Internet:

"Don't...Feed...The...Trolls"

:)

One trick I learned a long time ago if something gets my dander up -- write the message responding to it, get all the anger out, then delete the message. Then, if I still feel the need to respond, I can do it with a cooler head.

Otherwise, we Ogre crush head. Crush head bad. Very bad. Make you hurt.

Great advice, which I have heard more than once.
Yet more often than not, I end up feeding trolls.

They are so cute. What with their fuzzy hair, flailing arms, intellectual curiosity and willingness to engage others, I usually find them irresistible.

Netanella | 2108 comments I remember the Gizmo = Gremlins. Don't get them wet. Don't feed them after midnight. etc.

Tammy K. (rambles_of_a_reader) Netanella wrote: "I remember the Gizmo = Gremlins. Don't get them wet. Don't feed them after midnight. etc."

But you have to admit those Gremlins knew how to PAR-TY. \':-)'/
And the one with the white Mohawk, dude he was the bomb!

Yammy | 177 comments just fyi i'm in this, just moving very slowly. i'm trying to finish two massive books =, the stand and swan song.

read part 1 of this. is anyone else digging the action scenes as much as i am? editing needs work but that's nothing new.

message 32: by Tammy K. (last edited Jan 14, 2014 07:19PM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Tammy K. (rambles_of_a_reader) Hi Yammy,

Go to the links above in message 19.
We have all posted on part one already but you can add your thoughts/comments one the link to part one. I'm sure they will be responded too.
Netanella and myself have completed part two, but Randy is still working on it.
Feel free to add thoughts/comments on part two's link as well.
Tomorrow is the start of the discussion for part 3. We will use the link above labeled part 3 for that.:-D

Randy Harmelink | 2188 comments Just call me pokey.

Tammy K. (rambles_of_a_reader) Randy wrote: "Just call me pokey."

Is that what Jason's mother calls you?

Randy Harmelink | 2188 comments She only know four letter words. That's as far as she got in school.

Yammy | 177 comments hahaha, speaking of that drama thread, carol friend requested me today. her e-mail address is, get this, [redacted]. i about lost it.

Randy Harmelink | 2188 comments She friend requested me the other day as well. Not sure why, since she's convinced I don't read the books. And, even if I do, I'm not reading them right.

Yammy | 177 comments i should state repeatedly that jerry springer is not me and i do not know the person who made the profile in any way shape or human male boy form. *innocently whistles*

Yammy | 177 comments i highly doubt that [carol's email address] is real, but i edited anyway.

i like randy. he doesn't seem like a orger to me.

Tammy K. (rambles_of_a_reader) Randy is and always will be my goodreads friend.
I latched onto him a couple groups back and never let go
