I am trying to find this book to read it again but cannot remember the title or author and was hoping maybe someone here might know the book. The book is an older book probably early '90s and I believe a Harlequin book because it was just a small paperback. What I remember from the plot is the Hero and heroine were step-siblings but were not biologically related. The Hero seduces the heroine when she was a teenager but before they could have sex something happened and the parents found out. The Hero was he sent away or left because he knew the heroine was too young to be in a serious relationship. Fast forward a few years and the heroine contacts the Hero because either the father or both parents have died and there is some financial problems. The parents have two younger children I think they are teenagers. The Hero makes the stipulation that he will financially support the family but in exchange the heroine must marry him. I remember there is a scene where the Hero is outlining what the two children must do to get their allowance and the heroine protests because they have never had to do that before. The Hero says that is because the kids are spoiled and while the heroine privately agrees she still argues. The Hero and the heroine get married and go on a short honeymoon. I don't remember what happens next but I do remember at the end of the book they are getting ready to go to a wedding and through the discussion realize that they love each other. I think that they miss the wedding because they end up in bed. I believe the book setting was England. And that is all I remember. Thanks for your help! I have been thinking about this book a lot and I would like to read it again but can't remember the name.

That sounds familiar. I'm not sure who wrote it though. I could be a Sara Craven book. It sounds like something she would write.

I don't know if I have found the book yet. Someone on another forum suggested the book might be "The Tawny Gold Man" by Amii Lorin. I managed to get a copy of the book but have not found the time to read it.

Neeceetee | 4 comments Hi,
I'm trying to find a book i've read previously. The hero is Greek and he has an english mistress. He dumps the mistress in a cruel manner and married a supposedly virgin Greek girl who turns out to be a drug addict. He eventually divorces her, and about 7 years later searches for the former mistress, who turns out to be the illegitimate daughter of an English politician. the former mistress has been left shares to the Greek's company by the nephew in his will after he dies. the greek guy then forces/convinces/blackmails the girl into marriage. Also in the story the Greek hero's nephew is in the closet and the family thinks the mistress is actually his girlfriend. I think there's a guy named Tim who is the nephew's boyfriend. The heroine's newly discovered half brother is in trouble with his company and that is how the greek hero gets the girl to marry him...please help

Wow. That sounds familiar. Almost sounds like a Lynne Graham book, but I'm not sure which one.

It might also be a Melanie Milburne book.

Neeceetee | 4 comments I have to admit...I'm stumped. I've used internet search engines putting in key words. It remains one of my favorite HP books...I just remember the one scene when a few months after the Greek "hero" got married to his paragon Greek wife, the former mistress (heroine) was invited back to an Art Gallery showing by the nephew. I think the nephew was kind of perverse and liked seeing her suffer. So, the former mistress sees the Greek guy with his newly pregnant wife! At one point the wife has to go to the restroom and the Greek guy has the audacity to look to his former mistress and ask her to "make sure she's alight"...Arghhhh! Well, she does go into the restroom with the wife and guess what...the pregnant wife is in there doing rolling a "funny smelling cigarette"...later in the book the couple are divorced after he discovers her drug use and the baby is stillborn. Yet he helped her get treatment and at the end of the book you discover she's clean and sober, moved on to marry another man (still getting support from the Greek rich guy though). Oh..how I wish I could find this book. It seems to have some of everything...sex, drugs, closeted gays, and even AIDS...because the nephew ends up dying of AIDS and leaving the former mistress stock in the family business because he owed her money for helping start up the art gallery. I will maintain hope on finding the book again...thanks all for your help.

Neeceetee | 4 comments Yes! You get it! Indeed, Lucas was such a b*st*rd, and that scene was definitely the hardest for me to read, but the resolution... Ahhh... That's why I keep going back to it again and again.

That book did sound familiar. I think I read it or at least have it. Going to have to check at home. I still don't have all my HP's uploaded to GR yet.

willaful | 344 comments If you liked that one, I'd recommend The Billionaire's Pregnant Mistress by Lucy Monroe. Not as extreme, but some similarities. It was my first fav HP.

was the heroine married before in this book?

message 19: by willaful (new)

willaful | 344 comments No, she's the hero's mistress and he breaks up with her to marry someone else and doesn't believe that she's pregnant. So it starts off really awful, but he redeems himself later.

Bnic | 21 comments I am searching for a book I read several years ago. The hero or heroine are forced to marry. He is disdainful of her and refers to her as a mouse, wren, or sparrow. The cover of this book I recall bring similar to Robyn Donald, The Guarded Heart.
