Christa (christaw) | 1460 comments Good grief. That's worse than Days of our Lives.

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 3289 comments Wait.

It gets worse.

She then marries a military man (her dad was military) and said dude hits her. But there's no mention of dear old dad being upset or saving her from this. Though he went through hell & high water to get rid of the hero.

Who, btw, got a felony rap from defending his sister from an attempted rape. But the heroine's dad used it as proof she should never contact the hero or let him know about his child.

WTF.

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 3289 comments Yeah. So I was trying to hold back in the review but I got all mixed up. LOL All the rage.

So, what changes do you think I need to make?

Christa (christaw) | 1460 comments I would probably say something about "inconsistent characterization of some people and events makes the story completely unrealistic".

That's the only way I can think of that doesn't turn the review into one big spoiler. I mean, even after your review, some poor sap might still want to read the damned thing. :D

HomeInMyShoes | 2759 comments I think there's a quote for that: "there's a sucker born every minute" or something.

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 3289 comments huh.

So, checking this I realize that I'm only crappy about 1 of the THREE challenges I started.

I SUCK at the series challenge but I'm doing very good on the review challenge. The purchase challenge? IDK, that's up in the air.

HomeInMyShoes | 2759 comments The purchase challenge could be blamed on inflation so you only suck at one out of three. :)

Series are always a losing proposition for me. You have one of several outcomes:

1 - you enjoy the first book so much you buy the entire series and then book two is so-so, book three is atrocious and you now have another four books on the shelf that are unlikely to be read, except if you are obsessive enough like me to plow through the rest out of spite (see the Sword of Truth)
2 - you enjoy the first book and the second and then get an author that doesn't seem able to finish the series (see a Song of Fire and Ice)
3 - you didn't really like the first book, but everyone keeps saying it gets better, but it just gets longer (see The Wheel of Time)
4 - the series is so awesome that it shouldn't have ended, but it did
5 - I could go on, but you get the idea, there's always a negative and the series will always manage to find a way to piss in your corn flakes
