Petra I nominate The Forty Days of Musa Dagh The Forty Days of Musa Dagh by Franz Werfel .

I enjoyed A Soldier of the Great War but I read it recently and wouldn't reread it (yet). I would be interested in reading The History of Tom Jones.

Sandra - I haven't seen this one in a long time - I have it in old separate leather bound volumes!!

I agree. I haven't done a chunky read with you yet, but these look fabulous.

Petra I agree. All the choices are interesting.
I read Kristin Lavransdatter with another group earlier this year. It was (surprisingly) a very polarizing book. People either really loved it or were rather "meh" about it. It would be interesting to follow another discussion on this book.
I really enjoyed Jonathan Strange when I read it years ago.
