Carole Wylie | 4 comments I'm looking specifically for women writers of science fiction and fantasy (as well as related topics) that are either mid list, debuting, or only have a couple of books under their belt.

I'm looking not just to read them, but also promote them - long story.

Any recs are appreciated!

She has a few books out and her latest one is definitely one of the more successful ones. I read Vicious and it was fantastic.

C.G. (samatwitch) | 110 comments I have a friend who has two books of her trilogy out - third one is due fall 2014. They're YA fantasy and very good. Her name is Catherine Egan and she's on Goodreads.

Molly (mollyrichmer) You should check out Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie and A Natural History of Dragons: A Memoir by Lady Trent by Marie Brennan. Both were recent Sword and Laser picks by upcoming female authors. I haven't had the chance to read Leckie yet, but the group seemed to really enjoy her book, and I loved the Brennan.

You might also want to consider readings some NK Jemisin. Her debut novel, The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms, got a lot of attention when it came out a few years ago. And her new series, starting with The Killing Moon, is very good as well.

Let us know what books you pick! I'm always glad to give support to new female authors. :)
