That would be a righteous soundtrack, Stephen.

Bill (llibrro) | 1113 comments And don't forget that classic from the Hoodoo Gurus "Dig It Up"
My girlfriend lives in the ground
My friends ask why she's not around
She won't come home
I'm so alone you'll never know

You can't bury love
You've gotta dig it up
Yeah, you've gotta live it up

I take her flowers each day
I place them over her grave, I want her back
Because I look so bad, so bad in black
Like a maniac
You can't take away my love
I'll never give it up
Yeah, I'm gonna dig it up

Oh honey
No, you can't make me
Don't, don't, don't, don't tell me, I don't want to know

My girlfriend lives in the ground
My friends, you ask me why she's six feet down
I can't tell you why 'cos if I even try
I'd fall down flat on my face

And I'd cry, "You can't take away my love"
Gonna dig it up, yeah, I'm gonna live it up
I'm gonna have to dig it up, dig it up
I'm never gonna stop with that loving cup
Gotta fill it up

To be fair that thing with Nickel Back, on that japanese game show set, while covering Bon Jovi's "Blaze of Glory" was ruled assisted suicide under Oregonian law, not murder.

You gotta love Motorhead , any hard rock band that uses the word sycophant ( correctly ) in a song is alright by me. Lemmy would probably not want you to mourn him , but have a toast , or twelve , in his memory.

Wow, thanks guys for the welcome (you too Matthew!) Maybe I should start taking time-outs? Kidding!

Also, I'm very honored by the membership, is it for life or will it last until you see me dance and/or hear me sing?

"...of Doom" and all, but usually I find there are limits for everything!

Anyway, I just put on David Sylvian's 'Gone to Earth', which I will let lead me off to sleep... 'night guys!

He has a penchant and a voice for dark songs.

Born in the U.S.A. is the one I have on vinyl, and I have a certain nostalgia for the hiss and pops of LPs. This exact record and Hotel California were the first two that I ever owned. Perhaps listening to "Downbound Train" and "I'm On Fire", when I was eight, explains a lot about my psyche. Or maybe it's the beer.

Unlike most I never really appreciated Springsteen until I heard Nebraska. It's just him, guitar, and harmonica, and a whole lot of darkness. I especially like the title song about the Nebraska spree killer Charles Starkweather. (there have been half-dozen movies made about it). "I guess there's just a meanness in this world." The Ghost of Tom Joad is dark as well.

Yeah, Tom Joad and Devils and Rust are thematic sequels, but Nebraska's better.
And, don't forget the mandolin, it adds a lot to Atlantic City.

Yeah, you gotta love the murder ballads. They came over with imigrants, and were nurtured in mountain and folk music. Then they emerged into the daylight with bluegrass. Now they are in everything, from "Tom Dooley" to "Possum Kingdom".
