Perhaps I should have sent you a personal message, Ed. Would have been better, but I'm normally too shy to send PMs. But I have to admit: Your tone is sometimes on the edge of trolling, to say it in a diplomatic way.

Thanks, Stephen!

Lake of Tears - The Neonai

Normally, solo albums disguised as regular band albums tend to be the weakest in the discography, but I love this one as well as the other works of Lake of Tears.

Yes ok, I could easily dig up some synth-pop that I still dig, but the very first Ministry was quite forgettable, I agree."

I got into them when they were Synth Pop. I saw them after they went Industrial but I was more into them earlier on, but it's just my opinion.

I like Industrial, I just never loved Ministry as much after they headed in that direction.

As far as Industrial, I prefer Coil, Current 93, Tear Garden, Skinny Puppy, KMFDM, Edward Ka-Spel, Psychic TV, Front Line Assembly, Scraping Foetus Off the Wheel, Nine Inch Nails, and Rammstein.

Never listened that much to the first Ministry album actually, it was Twitch that was the starting point for me.

And with regards of Industrial, how come I knew your list would look like that? :-) OK, you sneaked in a couple that I know by name but haven't heard much of, but otherwise you've just stacked up the favorites!

I couldn't help it! I felt I had to list 'em or y'all would think I was an Industrial-hater! :D

llibrro wrote: "What are post-rock and post-metal etc? Does that mean rock and metal are dead?"

No, it doesn't mean rock or metal are dead. It is somekind of new (or newer) step in musical evolution, but I think the old root is still quite alive and well. Compare it to punk: First, there were the Sex Pistols (punk), then came Joy Division (post punk), but a few years later Oi! and bands & artists like The Exploited & GG Allin demonstrated the more traditional punk wasn't dead.

A good example for post rock is Sigur Ros:

So you prefer your black metal slightly symphonic? If you are not bothered by political correctness, you could also check out Nokturnal Mortum, especially The Voice of Steel. It is quite progressive and often described as the Darkside of the Moon of Symphonic Black/Pagan Metal.

Ancient Rites - The Diabolic Serenades

message 2942: by Ed (new)

Ed (blacksabbathed) Yes I like the symphonic elements. And no, political correctness has no bearing at all.
