Car Bomb - Third Revelation. Odd time signatures changes, guitar heavier than godzilla, drums and vocals pummelling like a multiple beatdown. This is everything that heavy music should be.
Please forgive my overzealousness:

Amorphis- Elegy (1996) Progressive Melodic Death Metal with some Folk influences. These guys hail from Finland.
Amorphis hits it out of the park on this their 3rd full length.

There's no such thing as being overzealous about music. And holy crap, I like this!!!

Thanks! I love 198d - I think I played it 5 time in a row!
Who wants to play music trivia? Okay, good. I was thinking about Megan Fox this morning while walking my dog and suddenly this came to me. How are these two people connected to each other: Charles Hardin Holley and Salvatore Phillip Bono?
Use "six degrees of separation" type logic to answer the question.
Allman Brothers Band "Blue Sky" live in Germany, 1991. Warren Haynes' and Dickie Betts' guitars start smoking and then burst into flames. https://youtu.be/G1jpQu6qR1E?list=RD1...

I'll take a crack at this, though I always get them wrong. Is it Snuff Garret, DJ friend of Buddy Holly and later producer of Sonny and Cher?
The Gits - Second SkinThey were on the cusp of signing a major record deal when their lead singer, the wonderful Mia Zapata, was brutally raped and murdered on her way home from a bar. Her band left behind some truly great, raw, music that is criminally overlooked.
Never heard of Snuff Garret but looks like he connects the two; however, not the answer I'm looking for. But Buddy Holly is correct and Cher, who was married to Sony "Salvatore" Bono, is also correct. So now connect Cher with Buddy Holly. Hint: there are multiple "degrees of separation" involved. Maybe start with Cher.

Her name is familiar from long ago but I wasn't aware of her tragic ending. Sad.

And of all the bands influenced by Buddy Holly, which one was most famous? In fact, they would take their name from a variation on the name of Buddy Holly's band.
Okay, so Greg Allman and the Beatles - and one of the Allman Brothers - Duane? - played on Wilson Pickett's cover of Hey Jude - am I on the right track now?
Stephen wrote: "Okay, so Greg Allman and the Beatles - and one of the Allman Brothers - Duane? - played on Wilson Pickett's cover of Hey Jude - am I on the right track now?" Yes. But Wilson Pickett and "Hey Jude" not involved. This was a hint and you got Duane Allman. Sonny > Cher > Greg Allman > Allman Brothers > Duane Allman > ... > Beatles > Crickets > Buddy Holly
So now connect Duane Allman to the Beatles. This should be pretty easy now.
Okay. Here's another clue. Duane Allman played guitar on "Layla" which was written by Eric Clapton. And George Harrison was a Beatle. So how do you connect Eric Clapton's "Layla" to George Harrison? There is one song and one person missing.
Sonny > Cher > Greg Allman > Allman Brothers > Duane Allman > Eric Clapton > Layla > ... > George Harrison > Beatles > Crickets > Buddy Holly
So the final sequence is: Sonny > Cher > Greg Allman > Allman Brothers > Duane Allman > Eric Clapton > Layla > Patty Boyd > Something > George Harrison > Beatles > Crickets > Buddy Holly
Lake of Tears - Black Brick Road
Lake of Tears - A Crimson Cosmos
I love Lake of Tears. Imagine Pink Floyd as a Gothic Doom band...

This is pretty cool, Ekel. I definitely hear the Pink Floyd reference.

Patti Boyd, and the track Something?

Yes! George Harrison married Pattie Boyd, who was pretty hot in her time, and wrote the song "Something" about her. Shortly after, Eric Clapton fell in love with her and wrote the song "Layla" in her honor. Eventually she left George and went to Eric. Supposedly there was also a guitar playoff between the two at some stage and the story goes that George tried to play some really flashy, complicated stuff to impress her but Clapton stuck to his roots and just played some blues and rock standards. In the end Clapton won and Pattie Boyd left the party with him.
Okay. So I set out to play Music Trivia using "six degrees of separation" logic to connect two music-related songs or people. Looks like I made it too difficult for whatever reason. I think it might be a fun thing to do if we refine it a little if anybody is interested. I'll try to come up with something more modern and easier later on and we'll see how it goes. If anyone else would like to try please feel free. And thanks to Stephen for at least trying it out. Here's something for your effort: https://youtu.be/iKMXJ32cueE

Have you ever seen them live? I was lucky to see them years ago with Glassjaw and Dredg - what a great concert! My favorite Sparta song is Echodyne Harmonic. Do you like The Mars Volta?
