I have purchased some hard to find music from Discogs members in Europe. They can be a wonderful source.
End of Green - Songs for a Dying World
Jeff Wayne's musical War of the Worlds...i grew up to this being my favourite audio book (back on tapes)
Just downloaded John Carpenters complete soundtrack library of all his films including the most elusive soundtrack to "Dark Star" My favorite soundtrack is "the Fog" and "Prince of Darkness".
Jeff wrote: "Just downloaded John Carpenters complete soundtrack library of all his films including the most elusive soundtrack to "Dark Star" My favorite soundtrack is "the Fog" and "Prince of Darkness"."Love Carpenter's stuff! Some of the movies are worth watching more for the scores than anything else.
the prince of darkness soundtrack that goes thru out the whole movie is just so creepy and eerie. it was perfect and Its one of my fav movies by him along with the Fog and the thing and they live.
Thomas wrote: "I love OMD and the earliest stuff most of all; Red Frame/White Light, Bunker Soldiers, Messerschmitt Twins... what's not to love? :) Did you catch the "Dazzle Ships At The Museum Of Liverpool"? On Spotify now, sounds really good! The CD/DVD is back for sale late this month, I think I must snag a copy then."
I love all their early stuff. I need to get it all on cd (and when I'm rich har ha, in vinyl ;)
No, I haven't been on Spotify for awhile bcoz I have no sound on my computer. But when I do I will check it out! :)
Janie wrote: "Bowie - Right"Jeez. I think u stumped me. I don't think I know that song. I know its a B-side for the Fame 7" but I might've never heard it! 0__0
Thomas wrote: "Erin wrote: "Johnny Cash - Hurt"I would never want to diminish the man in black, but I see this cover version referred to so much that I need to point out that Trent's own version is way superior..."
wUT. I think Trent's version is awesome. BUT. I think Mr. Cash's version is excellent too. I love the way his voice got all smoky when he got older.
Ekel wrote: "OMD are an extraordinary band. The new stuff is great, too, but I haven't checked the middle phase yet."I'm not a fan of their middle phase. However, I'm very interested in checking out their new stuff.
Thomas wrote: "Can I tip you about Swedish electronica act Beatundercontrol? (I just *had to* rise to that challenge!). Seriously, wow, that kind of dedication is impressive. Are you a collector to? I am (at a modest but serious scale) - my other hangout is Discogs.com. I like these sites very much as they represent two of my biggest interest, but they are notoriously hard to combine, on discogs a thread about interpreting a single doodle etched in a vinyl record run-out can live for some time - here people add books "because the cover kind of reminds of the one I've got". "
I do not know Beatundercontrol. I'm confident I might like them because the info on them says they combine several different elements together, which I can like a lot ;]
I noticed they get tagged as dubstep and I must admit I have only liked about 10 releases since dubstep first originated.
1. Lorn *Nothing Else*
2. Flutterspot *Suitable For A Desire To Share*
3. Skytree *Hyphae*
4. Hexstatic *Master-View* (+ Perfect Bird Astro Boy Remix)
5. Michna *Eggstra EP*
6. Flying Lotus *Until The Quiet Comes* & *Cosmogramma*
7. Prefuse 73 *Vocal Studies + Uprock Narratives*
8. Dabrye *One/Three*
9. Teebs *Ardour*
10. Burial *Untrue*
-and some of the songs from Depth Affect *Hero Crisis*.
★ Most of these aren't even "true" dubstep. They're more leftfield, abstract, glitch and experimental while incorporating dubstep-like production sounds but I include them here bcoz they are grouped together w/dubstep artists/releases and are hard to categorize & similarly like Beatundercontrol, they mesh electronic styles together.
I'll check it out and thnx for the recommendation! :D
**OH AND BTW I LIVE ON DISCOGS!!!!!

Maybe I'll see you at discogs then? :)

I somewhat agree Michael - problem is I can never relax and listen to Cash without longing for Reznor...

I haven't forgotten, Karl, I just haven't been at the computer long enough yet.

Tom Smith has been with the Editors from the start (his birth year is one of those we think of as "not too long ago, really?"). I too think he has one of those "familiar yet unique" voices.
Indie band Editors have been evolving quite a bit and some fans of their first album "The Back Door", with its bit edgier and comparably more abrasive rock sound, did not like the more polished "An End has a Start" and certainly not "In This Light and on This Evening" - Produced by (Depeche Mode et al) veteran Flood.
I love all those ones equally (actually bought them all the day after seeing them live on a hunch...). But then kind of lost track of them a bit and album number 4 I've barely heard. I really like this new one (album 5) and I love that they continue to go their own way!

The first time you heard them was in concert? I'd like to hear more by them. I'll check out their older albums, too. Thanks, Thomas.
