Yes, I believe this is from the album Arc. I saw these guys for the first time on Later...With Jools Holland a while back, and I've been hooked ever since. Worth checking out if you can...

Kool. I've heard one song on college radio and thought they sounded a bit like a modern cutting-edge XTC, only to hear the announcer say basically the same AND then read a review somewhere that said the same.

Jeez, everybody on this board likes good stuff. Saw Siouxsie with Love & Rockets in the early 90's. One of the more memorable concerts out of the few hundred I've been to.

message 2012: by Andrew (new)

Andrew Mcgrath | 157 comments I saw Love & Rockets twice in the 90's. The first concert was before they came out with " So Alive ". They performed " Dog End of a Day Gone By ". One of my all time favorite songs. My top two would be Morrissey " Everyday is Like Sunday " and The Pet Shop Boys version of " Always on My Mind ". Never saw Morrissey , But The Pet Shop Boys were fantastic.

I saw Morrisey at Roskilde (year?) at 3 a.m. doing a fantastic show in front if a huge bleary-eyed crowd. A likewise huge leather-clad dangerous looking biker stood beside my wife and me a made me a tad nervous actually. Suddenly he leans to his friend and barks in Danish "If he plays 'Everyday is Like Sunday' I'm gonna f-ng cry" A few songs later, Morrisey did, and the biker made good on his words. Strange and great experience :)

Awesome. I know everything by them, inc. all Tones On Tail. I saw Love & Rockets perform 3 days in a row (or maybe it was 3 days out of 4), 1 of those was with Siouxsie, the other 2 just them (if I remember correctly). The last show of the 3 was (I believe) at One Step Beyond in Santa Clara, CA. There were people moshing so hard that one guy got hurt real bad and had to be taken on a stretcher to Emergency. A girl got hurt too with a cut that looked like a knife slash all down one leg. The venue tried to stop Love & Rockets from performing but Daniel Ash wouldn't leave the stage. Even David J & Kevin Haskins were trying to get him to come off the stage because the venue wanted to cancel the show less than midway through. Daniel ended up playing a nearly 30 minute acoustic version of All In My Mind until the crowd calmed down and became mesmerized by him and the performance. Ended up they let the concert continue. It was one of the most affecting, atmospheric shows I've ever seen. Oh, and before each show Love & Rockets got so high that smoke from their bongs created a huge smoke cloud which then combined with their fog machines that really blew us all away, especially since I was in the front about 3 or 4 standing rows back! :D

Just finished The Tommyknockers and remembered a passage:

"Bang-a-Gong, Marc, you sure got it on. Or got it off. Or whatever. A group called Power Station is going to cover your tune in 1986 and it's going to be really bad, it ... it ..."

Love the Ramones, but I get frequently surprised about how "soft and harmonic" the sound is; not abrasive by today's standards by a very long shot!

Edit: on the old stuff/hits I mean
