-- Thomas, I don't own this album or CD, so I looked it up on Youtube and sadly most of the songs of the album have been deleted, however the Cave song is still there, and I agree with you that it's a good song, but not one of my favorites by him, but he has so much to choose from, so Happy Birthday Party, and viva la difference. --

I was keen on R.E.M. at the time, but their "First We Take Manhattan" was probably one reason why I was so awed by Cave. R.E.M did exactly what you should not do - the band played it so it sounded like the original and Stipe sang it trying to capture the 'Cohen feeling'. Very disappointing. And then came Cave and.... well you heard :-)

I'm listening to the Missing Maura Murray podcast. I'm on episode 4 of 30-something! I'd better do a lot more chores and hikes if I'm going to finish before I'm old!
