One of my favorite blues standards, but in this case I'm fond of the Allman Brother's version from Live At Fillmore East. It's hard to beat these two guitar solos by Duane Allman and Dickey Betts, plus the Hammond organ solo by Gregg Allman. It don't get much better.

Oh, yeah, the Allman Brothers' version from the Fillmore is great! That's the first version I heard of T-Bone Walker's song. :)

Sam Cohen - Cool It *An incredible Psychedelic Indie Rock album a friend turned me on to today. He said it was like Mellow (French band) with a singer that was like Bob Dylan if he could sing, as if produced by Air.
I think he was dead on. I added my feedback saying it also has moments of Lou Reed AND The Velvet Underground, with a touch of The Beatles sound/songwriting/production of Strawberry Fields Forever & I Am the Walrus, with a bit of Black Moth Super Rainbow's Start A People LP thrown in.
What's crazy is, though obvious who his influences are, there is not one note or lyric, or vocal melody on this album that copycats anyone mentioned above. He somehow wrote & produced something 100% fresh and unpretentious, within very defined parameters he set for himself from the get-go, without shooting himself in the foot.
Psychedelic Rock or Indie Rock of this nature is not something I am as into as other stuff I like but this is easily one of the top 20 records I've heard in the last couple of years. ESPECIALLY when comparing it to other highly lauded albums in the same vein...such as (and no offence to the artists) the absolutely overcooked, pretentious, hail-to-the-glory-days, way over-rated Psychedelic Indie Rock mess of The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger's Midnight Sun album, that blatantly ripped off every prog rock melody, style, and lyrical vision of every artist from the late 60's to mid 70's. One song on that was so embarassing by songwriter/producer, Sean Lennon -who ripped off the melody from Blade Runner & (I think either) Pink Floyd's The Great Gig in the Sky or Brain Damage WHILE writing lyrics using a Wizard of Oz storyline- that was..well...maybe the most horrible thing I've ever heard. I'm surprised John Lennon didn't jump out of his grave like that guy from Stephen King's Creepshow, who just wanted his cake, and strangle his son.
Sam Cohen's Cool It, on the other hand, is highly recommended for as different of listeners from each other as Bill to Thomas, and many in-between.
