Getting to Know You
>
what are you currently listening to?

From the "those french are really sick people" department:
Frontiere(s), ils and (my favourite) Haute Tension.
Recently watched "Southbound" and i liked it.
Those are some sick choices, Bicho. I'll keep an eye out for Southbound. Add "Inside" to your list.

I watched that movie so long ago that all I can remember are those men suddenly getting up and dancing. Check out Andrey Iskanov, if you haven't already.

'Karma', by Peter Travers, a Facebook friend of mine. Soft and ambient.

Gonna have to jot down Nightmare in a Damaged Brain and The Anthropophagus Beast. I mighta seen thise inder different names. The Greek Island of Death I'm sure I've seen but don't remember it so will have to rewatch ;)
Keep 'em coming!

Neon Demon is super high on my list. Don't Breathe and The Shallows both on my list to see.
You mentioned several I love: Dog Soldiers, Berberian Sound Studio -btw The Duchess of Burgundy by the same director is one of my top 5 films of the decade. I own Ravenous, hated Funny Games *both versions!), didn't think much of the American version of Silent House but I imagine the original is far superior (come to think of it...maybe I did see it and if its the film I'm thinking about I liked it). Troll Hunter is another I love. And surprisingly, gosh I hate to admit, as much as I liked the beginning of Frankenstein's Army, by the end, it didn't quite win me over as it did you BUT I might just need to see it again and would probably be more fun with a group of friends on a rewatch than solo like my first viewing of it. Irreversible, I need to look into. I liked Imprint and want to own it.
Calvaire is on my list tho I can't remember anything about it. I put a star next to it which means it is one I consider in my hotlist so it must be one I think is gonna be right up my dark alley ;)
Don't know of The Squad but will check out. And I thought Shrooms was hella fun...and one I'd also like to own.
Awesome stuff to look into! Thnx guys & gals!!!! :)

Frontier(s) by Xavier Gens is crazy and one of my faves from this decade. His best film by far.
Southbound looks fantastic and been hearing great things about it. I've watched the preview more than just about anything else I'm wanting to see.
High Tension was great but disturbing.

Will do. Thanks, Janie.

Today I plan to watch "Livide," which features the beautiful French actress Chloé Coulloud.

Livide looks great.

I was expecting it to be intense, raw, and an uncomfortable listen, Thomas, but I never bargained for the beauty laced through it. I'm totally biased but I think it's a dark triumph.

I've always loved this song but since watching Stranger Things it's just reignited my love for it.

The hospital story was awesome.
If you haven't seen them, try V/H/S and V/H/S/2. not all of the stories are great but some of them are really good.

This one totally flew under the radar... from the director of 'À l'intérieur'? count me in!

Livide is not quite as intense as Inside, but very enjoyable.
I saw VHS1 when it first came out. The only one I remember is the crazy woman they meet in the bar. Sort of reminded me of college.

No, but I love Lars von Trier, so I'll seek it out.

Check out Andrey Iskanov"
I was able to find only "Philosophy of a Knife." Sounds a little like "Men Behind The Sun". Not really my kind of movie (believe it or not) but I might watch it anyway. Was hoping to find his "Ingression" but could not.

We have Nails, which was ...icky, and Visions of Suffering, which we haven't had the nerve to watch yet. :/

You can skip "The Shallows" unless you just want to see Blake Lively harassed by a shark while stranded on a rock in the ocean. She is nice to look at, but not that nice. If you want to see her in a more interesting, disturbing and revealing movie see "Savages." There's also a book I think.

It's on heavy rotation at my place too. I like it very much.

it's been in my "to watch list" forever. saw a couple of episodes of Stephen Kings adaptation and didn't like it much.
Shellac - Dude Incredible

SK's version was garbage in comparison (imo). I watched the original first season one day when I had a massive hangover, and that did the trick. I never made it to the second season, because I couldn't find it at the time, but I think it's available now.
Good music choice, btw!
Meshuggah - Obzen

"Bleed" does weird things to my brainwaves...
Meshuggah - Bleed on repeat.

About a third of the episodes, I guess. Many people compare it to David Lynch's Twin Peaks, and that seems to be a good comparison.
Azaxul - Night Tale

I found it to be even more bizarre than Twin Peaks. That giant "baby" still gives me nightmares.
Oops, I didn't got that far into the series, but that sounds like I should (re-)watch it...
Fiendlord - Dust on the Chamber Floor
Salt Lake City came up with some epic Epic Black Metal bands in recent years.

I've seen the first one and thought it was brilliant. His best work imo.

Yes the bar scene dance. WTF! (view spoiler)[I keep thinking about the children in the red coats. Was Gloria their mother? Was she the only woman in the village before she disappeared and all the men turned to bestiality, inbreeding, and homosexuality? (hide spoiler)]
