Hank Williams - JambalayaI'm in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on my way to New Orleans. Stopped at a rest area a few miles back and an old Cajun lady there played this for me.

Cajuns are descendents of the Acadians, a group of French settlers from the Acadia colony of New France which was located in what is now eastern Canada. In 1710 the British conquered Acadia but the people refused an oath of loyalty to the invaders. During the French and Indian War, known to the Brits as the North American theatre of the Seven Years War (the French and British are always fighting), the British accused the Acadians of aiding the French (They were not loyal to France either.) And thus began the Great Expulsion of 1755-1764. (What was so Great about it?) Of the 12,000 or so Acadians who weren't killed, deported, or sold into slavery, a few made their way to Spanish colonial Luisiana (modern day Louisiana).

Keith Richards laments the loss of sweet Ruby, who changed with every new day, but still he will miss her.
The Rolling Stones - Ruby Tuesday
Valhall - EinhärjarSaw these guys live in the basement of an Irish pub full of football fans last winter - a great, surreal experience.

Caladan Brood - Echoes of Battle

I would recommend Oath Bound. Land of the Dead is a masterpiece and one of the few songs by Summoning that uses clean vocals. BTW, Caladan Brood are awesome, too. Basically like Summoning with (more) clean vocals and Malazan instead of Lord of the Rings as lyrical theme.

No, Janie - you'll find that on the (very strange, but really rather good, Lovecraft inspired) Cacophony album
Usually sit in the very back of the bus, but today the driver was listening to Wake Up by Rage Against the Machine and volume was so low, that I had to sit directly behind him :)

I had a listen to Oathbound last night, whilst playing some good old video games. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I'll have to keep it on the regular spin list over the next few weeks. Thanks for the recommendation my friend.
Venom - At War With Satan

One of my favorite songs by them. This is an awesome live version featuring Herbie Hancock and John Hiatt with Art, Aaron, Cyril.
