During the cold war John Kennedy was to give a speech to show American support of East Germans and Berliners, but didn't like the speech written for him. What came to mind instead was "ich bin ein Berliner" With Berliner pronounced bearleaner which can mean a jelly-filled pastry in Berlin. I didn't know you were Portuguese so I thought you might get the joke."

In fact, I am German, and I thought "Yo no entiendo" was Spanisch for "I don't understand". Is my Spanish so bad that I speak in fact Portugese if I try to speak Spanish?

In a metal and punk environment, using or provoking with nazi imagery doesn't neceessary mean the artists and musicians support nazi ideology. In this case, Treblinka was a pretty "normal" Swedish death/black metal band whose members later formed the gothic metal band Tiamat. According to Metal Archives, the lyrics are "Satan, Dying, Gore, Mutilation, Darkness, Evil", the "normal" metal stuff, so to speak. It's actually the first time ever I listen to the band, since I'm quite obsessed with Death metal at the moment.

Ironically, I always thought whining about music not being PC was something typical for German potato people.

Stephen McQuiggan | 854 comments llibrro wrote: "Oh. Well that's different. German potato people? Is that a derogatory term for German's"

Excuse me whilst I clamber aboard my high horse here, but surely the Irish are the original 'potato people' - we are synonymous with spuds. We even make bread with them. We have been known to worship them. My uncle married one. Please don't take away our one cultural asset. I am so depressed now, I'm gonna put on some Leonard Cohen and think wistful, troubling thoughts about root vegetables in general.

I'm not a Jew but I hate you fuckers anyway. Fuck you, cunt. In English and in German"

By the way, the blame with my "nazi ancestors" and the concentration camps is just as inappropriate as a blame towards you and your "capitalist goon ancestors" for the millions murdered and nuked in Vietnam and Japan would be. Just saying.

My point was that there isn't necessarily any personal guilt or ancestral blame associated with crimes committed by the people who lived before you.

Already read it. Poor little Adolf.

By the way, what was/is your problem anyway? You already started to insult me before the Treblinka/Tiamat post.

No problem, Ekel. I attempted a joke that failed miserably. Got blown out of proportion. Lost my temper. Too much heavy metal. Meds need adjusting. Dr has me on a strict diet of James Taylor and Celine Dion. I'll be better soon I'm sure. Shake hands?

Alex: " They were about to perform a little of the ol in-out in-out on a weeping young devotchka they had there"
2 Russian word meaning "girl" or "woman," made popular by the 1971 classic A Clockwork Orange, and the all female punk band (hence the name), The Devotchkas.
She was a fine looking young devotchka if I don't say so myself.

Woke in the mood to hear these two old favorites: Queen of the Surface Streets, and Sprout and The Bean. Both beautiful songs. I read somewhere that she Joanna doesn't play Sprout live anymore. Said she forgot how. I doubt that's true. Would be a shame. If you know Gunne Sax clothing from the '60s, she were it throughout the video. Very sweet.
