A.L. Butcher (alb2012) | 1608 comments Apologies if this is in the wrong place but I am curious about what marketing people find most effective - both authors and readers. Is there a trend? Is is regional? Do authors promote in a way which suits most readers?
I realise these are quite generic questions but if you could do your best that would be great.

Prefered genre(s) - if author the genre in which you write:

4 Do you think you are influenced by an author's behaviour? Yes/No/Sometimes

Extra question:

Authors

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I'll just move this to agony aunt, I think.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Name (can be your GR name): Rosemary
Reader or author: Reader
Location: (general) East Lothian

Readers

Otherwise - mooching about on Amazon

4 Do you think you are influenced by an author's behaviour? Definitely! But I don't just mean authors losing the plot and getting huffy over poor reviews - I am far more likely to read the books of authors I have got to know here :)

I know - I used to work in one. Book Heaven. It was my job to wash/clean them all, sometimes as many as 500 in a day, so I got to see EVERY conceivable book you can imagine (and always had a huge box next to my bed, lol).

A.L. Butcher (alb2012) | 1608 comments I used to work in a remainder book shop. You don't want to know how much money I spent on discount books in those days ;)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Yep, the only thing that makes me miss DTBs are those alluring covers and blurbs, right there in your face, singing their siren songs.

A.L. Butcher (alb2012) | 1608 comments Indeed. I still have most of the books I bought. It would have been easier had they just sent the delivery lorry to my house and paid me in books.

I worked in a charity shop but never had to wash books! Books are one of the best things about fundraising, most of my paperbacks are ones that have been donated and I had to make sure they were ok for selling. The other advantage is that I store them and drip feed them for events
