Totally Fab! ;)

V.W. Singer | 43 comments I write in a linear fashion, and rarely get stuck or blocked. There are times when I spend a while mentally trying out different paths or choices to see which best suits the story and the atmosphere, but never completely stuck.

I see a lot of authors run into a wall because they allow self doubt to beat them down. My advice is to just write the story, and worry if it is good afterwards.

Selena Kou | 4 comments When i have writers block, i find that stepping back and doing other things that don't include writing helps me. I have found sometimes reading a good book has given me inspiration. Sometimes it might be hard to step away but i believe it sometimes is needed to get a fresh look at what you are writing. I think sometimes if you stuck on something it helps to talk about it with someone else. I have learned that hearing new thoughts from someone gives you a new idea of what you want for the characters that you are writing. I have a few friends that i talk to that help me sometimes when i can't think of something. I tell them a bit about what i want and we talk about possible ideas.

You don't have to give your story plot away just tell them a bit about your character. And see what they think would be good.

I find that sometimes just sitting and watching a movie or relaxing would help too with writer's block. It might be different for every person but i thought i might share what helps for me.

Marlo Johnson (marlojohnson) | 1 comments I use systems! I haven't been blocked since I figured this out, and now I more often have more ideas than I can write down. Once you figure out how creative flow works it's easy to unblock it.

Definitely agree! (Except the red wine part...legally im not allowed:p) but im guilty as charged of day dreaming a whole chapter out or meditating for long periods at a time.

Philip (phenweb) | 75 comments After 18 months without putting out a story and within that months of just adjusting a sentence, I'm glad to be back in some sort of flow. I believe work stress is a major factor in my block(s).

Now I need to keep the mood going for my other WIPs that means keeping work in its place

G.R. Paskoff (grpaskoff) | 3 comments Similar to what others have suggested, if a particular scene is causing me to stumble I will skip to a different scene. Since I usually start out with a basic story outline before diving into the actual writing it doesn't force me to write linearly. And, of course, the final product will usually differ greatly from the original outline.

Another thing I will try if a story is really stumping me is to jump to another story idea that I have. Sometimes just that shift of gears can inspire you to break through that block when you go back to it. Then again, maybe not. I'm currently juggling four different stories!
