Let me know when you would like to start."
I ordered this one yesterday. My library didn't have it. I should get it Monday. How about starting this one Tuesday or Wednesday?

Warning, Spoilers Ahead...
"I like to think I'm adaptable, but I kind of had my heart set on the whole brain cancer think." - You know you're having a bad day when brain cancer is the better of the two options.
The golem concept in this universe is cool. It gives new meaning to cheap labor.
I like the alternate history. No bloodthirsty massacres or revolts - just a series of events that led to the decline of the human race.
"Brain...activating...Will to live...returning." - I feel the same way when I have my morning caffeine.
"I prefer the term 'Mineral American'". - Political correctness spans the multiverse.
The deaths of the three victims were gruesome. The killer definitely has issues.
"...explaining a movie about a talking pig who wants to be a sheepdog..." - The reference went over my head too. Anyone know what movie Jace is talking about?
"Though I prefer the term 'option recognition deficient." - That is going to be my new phrase.
Charlie's powered by a T-Rex. Remind me not to get on his bad side. I wonder how 'volatile' he was when he awoke?
World War II had an alternate cause but was just as horrifying.
Poor Eisfanger. Someone needs to let him know when Charlie is messing with him.
"...Eisfanger, on the other hand, I can yell at." - Poor, poor Eisfanger.

Warning, Spoilers Ahead...
Jace is pretty ballsy to confront a ticked-off werewolf.
Is Roger the former lover the same Roger Miller, her supervisor? I wonder if that's the reason that Jace was chosen to visit the other dimension.
"A five-hundred-year-old ninja. Don't know why I didn't see that one coming." - Because he's sneaky like a ninja!
We now know that golems beat ninjas - even the 500 year old vampiric variety.
"I've got a partner who fixes himself with duct tape." - Duct tape is supposed to fix everything, golems included. Applying duct tape has to be less nerve wracking then stitching flesh.
Sandtraps are nasty!
I like how the author shows how both worlds have the same problems and issues even though one world is "normal" and the other is supernatural.
Charlie is by far the most attractive male in the series - he's loyal, protective, fierce, smart, perceptive, and has a deadpan sense of humor. He may be made of sand but there are worse character faults! Dr. Pete and Eisfanger are in second and third place. Tanaka was okay and I haven't seen enough of Cassius to get an accurate reading.
Loved Dr. Pete's family - very cute.
Is Tanaka only attempting to pursue a romantic relationship or does he have other motives?

Warning, Spoilers Ahead...
"We done?"
"Pretty much." - Jace and Charlie's arguments continue to amuse.
Roger, Tanaka, Bearbreaker - what is up with Charlie's attraction to men of questionable integrity? Is it a bad boy thing?
I think Charlie is going to regret the decision not to shoot Bearbreaker/Stoker. I can understand not wanting to reduce the human population but the man is a sadistic serial killer.
I didn't see the plague revelation coming. That was nasty!
It had an interesting ending. Unfortunately, the bad guy is still on the loose.
I wonder if exposure to the scroll will have some long-term effects on Jace? I hope Gretchen isn't one of the victims that goes insane.
Charlie is still my favorite!

Cold/flus are so persistent."
I think the stress level went down for my mom (She's now eating and walking with a walker now. Yay!) and that's when my body said it had had enough and my immune system became vulnerable. I've laryngitis and before I started the prescription I sound little better than a frog.

Sara said, "Brain...activating...Will to live...returning." - I feel the same way when I have my morning caffeine.
--AND--
"I prefer the term 'Mineral American'". - Political correctness spans the multiverse."
Sara, Can I just say I love reading books with you? Your comments make me smile. Yes, morning caffeine is a blessing. The Mineral American comment by Charlie had me snorting in a very unladylike manner. Too funny. Where'd the author come up with that? I really like Charlie.
This is another alternate universe scenario. So does or did another version of Jace exist in this universe? How does everyone know about her and her past?
What's up with the ex-boyfriend, Roger, hallucinations? Could he be this Aristotle?
After Tanaka withheld information I wouldn't have had anything to do with the man. What the heck is in that medicine drink?
The five hundred year old ninja was too short lived. Charlie's rebar reinforcement was interesting. The duct tape was funny. It reminded me of the Windex in My Big Fat Greek Wedding.
Sara asked, "...explaining a movie about a talking pig who wants to be a sheepdog..." - The reference went over my head too. Anyone know what movie Jace is talking about?"
Babe

I agree, but am wary about Tanaka. I like Dr. Pete too.
What isn't being told to Jace? She keeps feeling like information is being kept from her and I'm guessing her gut is right.
Dr. Pete's family is cute. I thought it interesting she felt it was a big production put on for her benefit.
Corpsing? Hmmmm....

I'm glad your mom is doing better. Hopefully, your antibiotics kick in soon.
Thanks for the Babe reference. I didn't have a clue.
Corpsing boggles my mind. It's very "ewww!"

I think it was the author's equivalent to people who are vampire wanna bes.
Sara said, "Roger, Tanaka, Bearbreaker - what is up with Charlie's attraction to men of questionable integrity? Is it a bad boy thing?"
Well she did say she would have dated Dr. Pete in our world so maybe not. She also said Roger hid his true nature from her at first. I think Tanaka can be blamed on the Urthbone concoction.
Sara said, "Thanks for the Babe reference. I didn't have a clue."
The author used a lot of kid show/book references. You don't see that very often.
So they said the scroll could change her on a genetic level? Want to bet she's not human any more? I want to know how or what, if anything, she got changed into?
Yes, I hope Gretchen is not affected like some will be.
Once crisis avoided and the next is on its way. Nice to know the psychopath still has his sights set on Jace.
I liked the book.
I still bet there is or was an alternate Jace somewhere in the alternate universe. I'm guessing that's why she was truly picked.
Does Urthbone keep her from jumping back to her own universe?

If you do the others in the series I may join you if you don't mind...;-)

It would be interesting for Jace to encounter her own doppleganger - especially if the supernatural world's version of Jace is completely different.
The Urthborne might prevent her from jumping back - not that the higher ups will inform Jace of that aspect.

I bought the rest of the series after I finished the first book so I would have no problem with buddy reads.

Some of my favorite lines that have not already been mentioned..
Because, as we all know, nothing solves insomnia like a nice warm glass of regret, depression, and self-loathing.

SYNOPSIS:
Her job description is the “tracking and apprehension of mentally-fractured killers.” What this really means in FBI profiler Jace Valchek’s brave new world—one in which only one percent of the population is human—is that a woman’s work is never done. And real is getting stranger every day…
Jace has been ripped from her reality by David Cassius, the vampire head of the NSA. He knows that she’s the best there in the business, and David needs her help in solving a series of gruesome murders of vampires and werewolves. David’s world—one that also includes lycanthropes and golems—is one with little knowledge of mental illness. An insane serial killer is a threat the NSA has no experience with. But Jace does. Stranded in a reality where Bela Lugosi is a bigger box office draw than Bruce Willis and every full moon is Mardi Gras, Jace must now hunt down a fellow human before he brings the entire planet to the brink of madness. Or she may never see her own world again…
