Is this a white cover or what? 3/4 for the challenge."

Great job Amanda! I love Agatha Christie and Hercule Poirot - I don't think I've ever read that one though nor have I heard of it - I'll need to check it out.

Hurray! Welcome to the group and the challenge, Arra! I'll sign you up for 2 now :]
I'm not going to get to three, I've taken a lot more overtime on than I planned so I'm going to have to finish with 2/2 :)

Great job so far everyone!!! Many are already so close to finishing their goals.
And special congratulations to Brenda, Amanda, Jaclyn, Allen, Pat, Claire, and Casey for already reaching your goal and finishing the challenge!!! *hands you a mug of hot chocolate* Well done!
Is it snowing right now where anyone lives? After some crazy snow here in New York, it's been unseasonably warm and unfortunately raining a lot :( I complained at the time we had our huge snow storm(s) because my car was literally buried under a mountain of snow again and again and again.
But this rain really makes me miss it and hope we get more snow soon!
✿Claire✿ wrote: "I'm not going to get to three, I've taken a lot more overtime on than I planned so I'm going to have to finish with 2/2 :)"Okay Claire! I just updated the list, congratulations on completing your goal!! I hope you enjoyed your books, and good luck with the overtime! I've had a CRAZY busy month too and am actually going to drop my goal down to 2 as well.

I read this a long time ago in French, not understanding much at the time, and wanted to re-read it in English!

Yay!! Congratulations Amanda on finishing!!
I LOVE LE PETIT PRINCE! It's one of my favorite books and I actually just read the original French version on New Year's Eve. I've decided I'm going to read it once a year from now on (I first read it in a middle school French class).
What I did NOT know for some reason is that it was written in the 40's! Thanks for the tip..totally reading this again before the month ends as I love this story so much. It makes me cry every time haha
Hi Brian,I updated message 9 to include:
2. Whiteout. A whiteout is a weather condition where visibility is severely reduced due to snow. Read a book with a predominantly white cover.
I don't know if that is enough white for you. Let me know if you think it shouldn't count and I will change my progress.

Yay! Nice job Jodi! It actually is predominantly white when I click on the link and see the image in a bigger size, so of course I will count it! I'll update your progress now. How was The Cat's Table by the way? Very cool cover, and I don't know if I've heard of it.
4. Is winter over yet? Read a long book (a book with 500 or more pages).
Ethics for the Information Age by Michael J. Quinn
Finished: January 14, 2014
I have finally completed my first book for this challenge - this book has 523 pages so just barely made it yikes. Yayyy! And regarding the book, class requirement. Never would have read it in a million years otherwise. Not badly written though and informative with great examples - just not the most interesting stuff for me personally. So 4 stars I guess for people that just love endless hypotheticals with analyses based on the same.four.ethical.theories.over.and.over.

When I read other reviews, I am in the minority when I say I thought it was okay. It is a very descriptive book but I felt like not a lot happened in it. I found myself losing interest. It was okay but not great. Most other reviews gave it 5 stars, as they found it very poetic. I prefer stories that have actions that move a story forward.
3. All snowflakes have six sides. Read Odd Thomas 446 pages.4. Is winter over yet? Read Inferno by Dan Brown. The e-book version has more than 500 pages.
January's Let it Snow! Mini ChallengeJanuary 1 - 31, 2014 Completed: 2/4
I will try for all 4 but will probably only get 2 or 3.
1. Let it Snow! is a song written in 1945. Read a book written in the 1940s.
2. Whiteout. A whiteout is a weather condition where visibility is severely reduced due to snow. Read a book with a predominantly white cover. Fruits Basket, Volume 01 1/16
3. All snowflakes have six sides. Read a book with the number 6 in its page number. (For example, The Golem and the Jinni has 486 pages.)Dark Lover (426 pages) 1/25
4. Is winter over yet? Read a long book (a book with 500 or more pages).

I'm glad the challenge motivated you to go back and read something from the 1940's that you might not otherwise have read. I hope you enjoyed the book! I'll update your progress :]
Erika wrote: "2/42. Whiteout. A whiteout is a weather condition where visibility is severely reduced due to snow. Read a book with a predominantly white cover.
"Nice job Erika!!! I feel like I would have been so distracted by the daisy in the middle that I would fail to notice how predominantly white the cover is. I'm having so much trouble finding a single book I can read that has a predominantly white cover for this :( anyway, Updated, your'e halfway there!
Lynn wrote: "Just finished The Jaguar Smile: A Nicaraguan Journey by Salman Rushdie. The book had 160 pages (pretty short!) and was interesting. Challenge complete! 4/4 yay!"
Way to go Lynn!!! Congratzzz!
Salman Rushdie was actually a professor at my university for a time though I never saw him. I'm ashamed to say I have yet to read any of his books, though I have the Satanic Verses right next to me, along with 3 other enormous piles of books on my floor that I'm supposed to read for 2014. My work space has gotten so disorganized and cluttered that I'm tempted to post a picture but am seriously afraid I'll be dubbed a hoarder. agh i'm such a mess.
Anyway congratulations again, I hope you enjoyed all four of your reads!!

. It was first published in 1947. But as the cover is so white, and the white is snow, I feel I should really count it as the whiteout one! (Plus its part of my randomiser challenge)Red seas under red skies was amazing! Yeah its the second in a series of 8 I think, but only 3 have been published so far :).
