I was inspired by Kate DiCamillo's dual honors last month (named Ambassador for Children's Literature plus Newbery!) to write a blog post about what I learned from her books about writing for kids. The blog post is here if anyone is interested in taking a look! (it's also on my Goodreads author page) http://www.suzanne-goldsmith.com/kate...
While we're talking about it, I just posted again about writing. A little bit more of a rant this time. But maybe someone out there will feel the same. "On NOT writing every day"...http://wp.me/p3o7Kw-7w
What is the average word count you write in any given day?I didn't think much about this until I saw the whole NaNoWritMo thing (which is new to me and I wish I had been able to participate in it this year. Oh, well - there's always next year, right?). Seeing this made me think that perhaps my usual 2000+ words at a time wasn't necessarily "normal." What is?
Suzanne, I read both of your blog posts and I loved them both. (sorry I'm just reading them now, you posted them 10 months ago lol. I don't always have time to be on Goodreads.) I loved your "rant" about not always having time to write or get things done because life gets in the way because it's true. like you, I am easily distracted but can get a lot done when I am in my flow. I also loved your praise for Because of Winn-Dixie. :-)
