message 106: by Betelgeuze (new)

Betelgeuze I was browsing buffy clips on Youtube, and came across this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZwM3G...

This is one of the reasons why Buffy rules, and why i thought that the Twilight movie sucked.

message 107: by Ruchi (new)

Ruchi (ohlookitsruchi) That video was so...satisfying.

message 108: by Luz (new)

Luz Has anyone heard of the new show Vampire Diarys? I've heard its a good show.

message 109: by Ruchi (new)

Ruchi (ohlookitsruchi) I read a bit of the Wikipedia article on it and this is what I've gathered so far:

Pretty popular girl living in a small town. Perfect life. Perfect boyfriend. Is unhappy. Breaks up. Stalks the new pale kid on the block. Pale kid rejects advances. Continue stalking. This is very inductive to eternal love.

Maybe I shouldn't dismiss it so, but after Twilight, I'm kind of sick of vampires :P

message 110: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Oh snap!

"You know I'm on a special diet..." says Edward.

"What're you doing?" Buffy asks.

Edward blinks.

"Here. At this table. Talking to me, like we're some kind of talking-buddies." says the vampire slayer.

Buffy kicks ass!

message 111: by Lorna (new)

Lorna | 1273 comments .........I don't get it.........

message 112: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Watch the vid, Lorna! It makes Ed Cullen look like the stalker/creep he really is.

message 113: by Lorna (new)

Lorna | 1273 comments Clever.

I might try watching Buffy, it looks interesting.

Just so happens that I like Twilight. But don't hold that against me lol

It's okay...I'm sure you will eventually see the logic of not liking it. I mean this in the best way possible!

message 115: by Lorna (new)

Lorna | 1273 comments Oh I see that it is not fashionable to like it. And the books have their faults, of course.

I read the books before I knew they were making movies, and my first impression was 'good, easy entertaining reads', and my aim in reading is to be entertained.

So I will continue to like the books :)

Movie is ok ?? nothing special, and I've seen worse...

message 116: by Ruchi (new)

Ruchi (ohlookitsruchi) I agree Lorna. Its easy and entertaining fluff, but some people go on about it like its the best book in existence, and this arouses my trollish instincts.

I only watch the movies for Jacob's hotness :>

I've been watching it... It's only okay... The best part of it it Stephan's brother xD He's hilarious. Otherwise, it's a little cheesy, and bleh. I like the premise of it, but also, I liked Twilight, so, yeah... ^^

Buffy is the original vampire thing, other then Dracula. I recommend watching it - it's so awesome.

Considering you like Twilight, think of this - Buffy tends to be better than Twilight.

Since it was first made over a decade ago, though, the graphics may be just a touch cheesy, but that's fine - remember when it was made xD

message 119: by Lorna (new)

Lorna | 1273 comments I'd say Interview with the Vampire is the BEST vampire movie ever made. And the books are the best books. But I will just Buffy a shot X)

message 120: by Jayda (new)

Jayda I haven't seen that one yet, I don't think. Is that the one with Brad Pitt? If so, I have yet to see it.

I love The Lost Boys ^^ That's an excellent vampire film.

message 121: by Lorna (new)

Lorna | 1273 comments Yep, and Tom Cruise. I hate tom, but even I have to admitt he did a fantastic job...they both did. Oh and Kirsten Dunst is GREAT. You HAVE TO see it!!

Haven't seen The LOost Boys. I see it for sale in the shops, and each time convince myself that I'm trying to save, and it's a waste of money lol.

message 122: by Jayda (new)

Jayda Yes, it sounds like I must see it! ^^

It really might be a waste of money. It's really good, however. I recommend waiting to see it on TV. Recording it on there is free, compared to buying or renting it xD

Rachel (aka. Kaiserin Sisi) (looney-lovegood) | 222 comments I've never seen Buffy. What is it about (besides a vampire slayer named Buffy)?

message 124: by Jayda (new)

Jayda "Buffy the Vampire Slayer is an American supernatural drama series that aired from March 10, 1997 until May 20, 2003. The series was created in 1997 by writer-director Joss Whedon under his production tag, Mutant Enemy Productions with later co-executive producers being Jane Espenson, David Fury, and Marti Noxon. The series narrative follows Buffy Summers (played by Sarah Michelle Gellar), the latest in a line of young women known as Slayers. Slayers are chosen by fate to battle against vampires, demons, and other forces of darkness. Like previous Slayers, Buffy is aided by a Watcher, who guides, teaches, and trains her. Unlike her predecessors, Buffy surrounds herself with a circle of loyal friends who become known as the "Scooby Gang".

The series usually reached between four and six million viewers on original airings.[1:] Although such ratings are lower than successful shows on the "big four" networks (ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox),[2:] they were a success for the relatively new and smaller WB Television Network.[3:] Reviews for the show were positive,[4:] and it was ranked #41 on the list of TV Guide's 50 Greatest TV Shows of All Time as well as #2 on Empire's 50 Greatest TV Shows of All Time. Buffy was also voted #3 in TV Guide's Top 25 Cult TV Shows of All Time and included in TIME Magazine's 100 Best TV Shows of All Time.[5:] It was nominated for Emmy and Golden Globe awards Winning a total of 3 Emmys. The WB network ceased operation on September 17, 2006 after airing an "homage" to its "most memorable series", including the pilot episodes of Buffy and its spin-off Angel.[6:] Buffy's success has led to hundreds of tie-in products, including novels, comics, and video games. The series has received attention in fandom (including fan films), parody, and academia, and has influenced the direction of other television series."

Rachel (aka. Kaiserin Sisi) (looney-lovegood) | 222 comments That sounds really cool. Is there anyone online to watch it?

message 126: by Jayda (new)

Jayda Yes, it is cool! I'm not sure. Try youtube. Otherwise, you'll have to buy or rent it, if I'm not mistaken.

message 127: by James (new)

James Wilkinson | 205 comments Buffy isn't flawless, it's just outstanding. The writing especially is fantastic, by turns tragic, moving, exciting and laugh out loud funny. Seriously, the dialogue is sometimes so witty and so imaginative, you will find yourself quoting it. I remember one of the principal bad guys checking out the stone casket of some demon and being distinctly unimpressed: 'It's a big rock. I can't wait to tell my friends. They don't have a rock this big'.

Rachel (aka. Kaiserin Sisi) (looney-lovegood) | 222 comments Thanks! I found it on youtube! Oh, what would I do without youtube? ;)

message 129: by David (new)

David (primemover) Buffy is amazingly well written. It's also by Joss Whedon. 'Nuff said. Twilight sucks.

message 130: by Luz (new)

Luz Twilights good...not awesome but good

message 131: by Lorna (new)

Lorna | 1273 comments I don't mind Twilight. It is easy-to-read, trashy entertainment. I enjoy reading them.

message 132: by Luz (new)

Luz well it was easy to read....but i am starting to like buffy way better than twilght

message 133: by Lorna (new)

Lorna | 1273 comments I don't think I'll even try Buffy. I don't need another series I MUST BUY and can't concentrate on anything till I've read them ALL.

haha

message 134: by Liz (new)

Liz (lizgore) | 3163 comments Buffy is a tv series

message 135: by Lorna (new)

Lorna | 1273 comments Haha. And books :)

message 136: by Luz (new)

Luz thats cool

message 137: by Ruchi (new)

Ruchi (ohlookitsruchi) I watched the first season of Buffy recently, and its pretty entertaining. The dialog is specially good.

message 138: by Xdyj (last edited Feb 18, 2012 04:50PM) (new)

Xdyj I do like Twilight, but few things can beat Buffy in awesomeness. I heard of Buffy during my senior year in college while taking a course on feminism/gender studies so I'm probably not in the target audience, but I still find it absolutely amazing.
