I agree with your sentiments about this trilogy being one of the best that I've read in years, was saddened by Larsson's death, knowing that it might be the end of something that I was totally into but.... IF his notes are as complete as they say they are, why couldn't someone else pick up the thread and give it their best shot? IF it's dreadful, it will end there. IF not, long may this engaging series go on. Just my thoughts....

I think I expect that from almost every book/author I read (or at least that), and no, it's not that uncommon.

"There Are Things I Want You to Know" about Stieg Larsson and Me
by Eva Gabrielsson, Linda Coverdale, Marie-Françoise Colombani

Carolyn. What corporation? This book was commissioned by the authors family and they picked a writer to carry on the series. They tried to get the unfinished manuscript from the dead author's girl friend but its tied up on legal issues because of Sweden property laws caused by his death threats. Since they could not they commissioned their own based upon the authors 10 book outline.

BTW, you are talking about THE GIRL in the SPIDER'S WEB, eh?

That's great, I hope you enjoy it.

@ 70 = Devin - I own the trilogy and the swedish dvd series -- love it all - AND I fully intend to read Spider's Web and plan on enjoying it as much as I have the 'Millenium Trilogy' thank you!

If someone wrote a follow-up I would read it but I don't want it to happen because I can't imagine anyone else writing the character of Lisbeth Salander.
It would be like the attempt someone once did of writing a follow-up to Gone with the wind.
The characters of Mikael and Lisbeth are so complex and well written that it drives me mad not to know what happens next but it is only Larrsen who could have told us. The tragedy almost adds to the magnificence of the books. Please leave it be!
