I just started reading this a little while ago. So far, i'm not 100% sure how I feel about it, but the plot is different which I appreciate

I'm on chapter 49 and all can say is (view spoiler)[ I think the previous elder is still alive. The people on the feeder level having there drug induced sex orgy on ship where most are related is weird, and I think Eldest is Hitler incarnate. (hide spoiler)]

I will love reading your comments. I just finished the trilogy and it was one of the best 3 book series that I have read in ages! First book and last book were my favorites.

Im going on to chapter 46 and it's a great book so far and all but it's really hard to get into. I find myself wanting to read it because it has a good plot and I want to know what happens next but I don't enjoy reading it. I feel like I'm forcing myself to read it ( if you get what I mean)

(view spoiler)[I feel really sorry for Amy because she will have to live 49 years and 260 odd days without knowing anyone. Basically the whole freezing process was for nothing. She would of been just as we'll not getting frozen and living back then because she is going to have to live on a ship doing nothing and when they land she will be older than her parents which will be really weird.

I think the book appeals to people who don't like the run of the mill YA book premise. And you have to be willing to suspend your belief and be patient with Amy, because I agree that she is very annoying.

I actually ended up really liking the book! The beginning was quite slow but it really picked up, and delved way deeper into the characters and the background. I actually really guessed the ending (view spoiler)[ when Elder is the one who unplugged Amy, but I didn't expect her to forgive him so easily. I understand that he's the only one she has left, but I would've been horrified, because he's the reason I'll be dead when my parents wake up: IF they do, which leaves us on a cliffhanger and makes me want to read the book! (hide spoiler)] Overall, I loved Amy's character and didn't see the plot twist (view spoiler)[ where Orion is the old Elder (hide spoiler)]. The history and learning about Earth from these people's perspectives was really cool, and kept me interested throughout the book. Also, a (view spoiler)[ chemical in the food and water where you could mind control them! HOW COOL! (hide spoiler)]

Was it Orion? If not then how did anyone else get the information that there was another level? I thought only Elder/Eldest could get through.. It's been slow but it seems that it's about to pick up! Chapter 36: (view spoiler)[ It's been pretty good so far. I've been thinking that Eldest has a role in all this. I mean, they did find what we can assume to be his fingerprint in the cryo chamber. What struck me as really f'ed up is that Amy related Eldest to Hitler and Elder didn't understand and thought Amy was saying Eldest is a strong leader. I'm horrified that Elder was taught that Hitler was a wise leader. It just proves how messed up the ship really is. (hide spoiler)]

I have an idea! (I've just finished Chapter 36) (view spoiler)[ So somehow Orion knew about the open door. I only remembered that Orion was scarred after I read someone's thoughts on this thread. The fingerprint they found in the cryo chamber had that looked to be a scar on the hand. The last Elder died, so there would be no real reason to remove their access since they're dead, so he would show up as Elder/Eldest. But what if they aren't really dead and Orion's scars are from surviving whatever it was that made everyone think he's dead? Also, Orion didn't seem too surprised to see Amy even though she's something abnormal in their ship society. Is Orion the "dead" Elder? Did he unplug Amy/the others? Is he the "him" that Doc and Eldest refer to? (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 54: (view spoiler)[ Is she acting like the feeders because she drank too much of the water? I find it disturbing how screwed up everyone's perception of "normal" is. So was it the water or did someone give her something? I can't believe that to regulate the ship they make everyone have sex like animals in the open... it's disturbing. They tried to rape Amy, so does that mean that all the feeder men would just go and force themselves on any women they find? (hide spoiler)]

I figured out they were behind schedule only when the old lady was saying that she remembered them doing that when she was pregnant. I read the sneak peek at the back of the book and apparently the Shippers lied to Eldest about why the ship wasn't there yet. I'm really curious to find out why they lied and what the real reason is for not getting to Centauri-Earth is. (hide spoiler)]
