Ryan smirked. At her response to his earlier statement, and to her question. "Just because I'm a vampire doesn't mean I like to sit around and sulk in the darkness. That trend died hundreds of years ago. So yeah, I watch TV," he said to answer her. He sat up when his attention was captured by Jeff Dunham. He'd already seen this special from him, but it still made him laugh.

Ryan laughed when he heard that joke, then he looked over at Kiernan when he realized that that was the first time that he had heard her giggle. Or show any kind of happiness for that matter. He looked away from and directed his attention back to the show. Ryan had seen Jeff Dunham to know all of his characters, but Ryan couldn't possibly pick between any of them. They were all hilarious. He laughed again when Walter came on.
"I don't get why people think that vampires would sleep in a coffin. You can hardly move in one of those things. Have you ever tried to lay down in one of them and stay still? I'll take a bed thank you," Ryan said then he pulled out a bag of food that he had for himself. Vampires needed blood to survive, but they could also be hungry for human food. He produced an aluminum foil wrapped burrito from his bag then he began to eat it while the commercials progressed.
Ryan continued to eat his burrito when Peanut came on. He put his hand up to his mouth to cover his mouth when he almost spewed out part of his burrito when Peanut was joined by Jose and the two had an argument together. He swallowed what was in his mouth and caught his breath then he laughed. Ryan finished off his burrito then he tossed the bag into a nearby trashcan like a free throw shot. "Well then maybe the stereotype should be the other way around," he said with a smirk and his arms folded across his chest.
(( I like how they're going right now. It isn't too fast, so it seems realistic to me. ))Ryan was surprised to not hear Kiernan laugh after a while from the show. He looked over to her and saw that she was already asleep. He walked over to her bedside and turned off the light. He reached down and pulled the remote out from her grasp then turned off the television. When he had done this, he looked down at Kiernan. Ryan's hand reached out and moved a strand of her hair away from her face. Ryan returned to his couch then he laid down on it. He soon fell asleep.
Ryan's eyes opened when he felt that his mind and body was well rested. He ran a hand through his hair then he sat up on the couch that he had slept on. He noticed that Kiernan was awake, and it looked like she was reluctant to get up even though she sat up. Ryan smirked. "Morning human," he said then he got up from the couch and walked over to the window. He parted the blinds letting in some sunlight. It was gray outside even though it was morning. It was probably going to rain later.
"I see your point, Kiernan," Ryan said giving her a side smile when he said her name. He walked over to the bathroom after he grabbed his bag and shut the door behind him. He brushed his teeth and washed his face to wake himself up. He was closer than he ever was about figuring about why he was the way he was, and on getting revenge for the man that killed Kiernan's mother. There were still severs pieces of the puzzle missing. Why was her mother killed? How had a powerful vampire gotten involved with a human? Why did Ryan feel like he knew who was responsible for her murder already?
Ryan came out of the bathroom not long after and said "I can hear your stomach growling through the bathroom door. We'll be stopping somewhere to get some food so don't get your panties in a pretzel." He brought his bag out of the bathroom with him. He fished his wallet out of his pocket after he sat his wallet down on the couch. He checked how much money he had fingering through the many $100 bills he had.
"Not exactly. We have the ability to charm people with our bewitching looks, but besides that, no such luck," Ryan explained. "And I heard that comment," he pointed out to her. He tucked his wallet back in his pocket then he opened his bag pulling out a jacket. He slipped it on then closed his bag up again. Vampires didn't feel any effect of hot or cold weather.
"That's already been tried, but your idea is easier said than done. And plus my kind wouldn't trust man-made weapons anyway. We use our own strength to fight, and no human had been stupid enough to try to take us on," he said then he chuckled under his breath. "Though, I guess you're the exception," Ryan said then he put his shoes on and grabbed his bag.
( Okay. )Ryan followed after out of the room then he shut the door. "I said humans were stupid. I never said your kind was weak," he explained then he walked to the main building and found that the person working the front desk wasn't there. Ryan placed the keys to the room on the counter then a $100 bill to pay for the night. He walked back over to his car and placed his bag in the trunk.
Ryan didn't say anything on response to that when he got in on the driver's side and started up the car. The engine thrummed to life, and the heater kicked on fairly quickly.
Ryan drove away from the motel and drove further into town so he could find a place for them to eat. There was still a few police cars around the car where Ryan had thrown Jack into. Jack's body was missing, but there was several traces of blood. Ryan hadn't heard an ambulance at all last night, so there was a chance that Jack's body had somehow vanished before the medics arrived. There was no chance of Jack being alive, but there was a chance that another vampire had cleaned up after Ryan's mess.
"Seems like it. A lot of my kind don't want to be find out about by your kind. If we were to be discovered by everyone, all hell would break loose," Ryan explained then he drove past the car and pulled up into a parking space in front of a breakfast diner.
Ryan followed after her inside and waited by the front podium with her until a waitress came by. She escorted the two of them to a table beside a window, and handed them each a menu. She said that she would be right back, then she walked off. Ryan sat down across from Kiernan.
"So..you never knew that my kind existed until your mother was killed by one of them?" Ryan asked her. He wanted to know what she could tell him about that day, and he also wanted her to have faith in him.
"Can you tell me about what happened then? If you could remember anything about what that vampire looked like, it could be helpful to finding him more easily," Ryan asked her.
The waitress then came over to their table with a notepad and paper in her hand. She asked what they wanted to order. Ryan hadn't really looked at the menu yet, so he had just opened it now for the first time. "I'll have a cup of coffee with eggs Benedict," he said then he handed the waitress his menu. 'Golden eyes... Why does that seem familiar?' he thought to himself.
The waitress wrote down their orders, took their menus, then walked away.Ryan felt like he should know someone with that feature about them, but the more he tried to grasp hold of it in his mind, the more it slipped through his fingers. He ran a hand through his hair and said "I feel like I should... And I haven't been the most fair to you. I keep asking you about you, but I never tell you anything about me. The reason behind that is because I don't remember anything up until two years ago."
"I remembered enough to survive. That's all I truly needed," Ryan said then the waitress came by with their drinks.( Whenever I suppose. If you'd like, the two of them could return to Kiernan's house and the invitation could be waiting for her there. )
"That's something that can be easily let go. If I spent so much time wanting to find that out, I wouldn't be alive or where I am now," Ryan said. His facial expression had hardened at this point. He grabbed his cup of coffee and took a sip of it even though it was hot.
Ryan shrugged as he took another drink of his coffee. "I guess I was always meant to be what I am now. You have something I don't, and I guess that's what it makes good to be just you. You have compassion," he said then he set his cup down.
Ryan hadn't expected to see her smile just now, and to see it happen for a moment, was nice for him. He enjoyed to see her smile, and to see her be happy. The waitress then came with their plates of food then she walked off. "No problem," he said with a small grin.
"I can tell," Ryan said then he grabbed his own fork and began to eat his eggs Benedict. He too was hungry for human food. His vampiric thirst was quenched for now, so he was good.
"I don't know, but when you someone who doesn't, be sure to talk some sense into them," Ryan said with a smirk back at her. He took another bite of his food then washed it down with some coffee.
Ryan soon finished his breakfast as well as his coffee. The waitress came by to refill it but Ryan lifted up a hand to stop her. "I'm good," he said then she set the bill down beside his empty cup.
Ryan pulled of the amount of money needed to pay for their meal, as well as a tip. He got out of his seat and waited for Kiernan to get out of her's before he walked over to the door of the diner and opened it.
As the two of them walked toward his car, Ryan said to Kiernan "I think it'd be a good idea for us to go back to your house. By now the police will have left so it should be safe enough for me to see if I can pick up something about the guy who killed your mom."
"Wait," Ryan said before she could get in on the passenger side of the car. He pulled out the keys to his vehicle and handed it to Kiernan. "You're driving this time since you know where we're going," he said.
Ryan got in on the passenger side of the car. He closed the door then put on his seat belt. "If you dent or crash my car, I'll kill you, so no pressure," he said.
Ryan shook his head chuckling to himself then he leaned back comfortably in his seat. He reached over to the radio and turned it on so some music could play through the speakers of the car.
Ryan looked over at Kiernan when her facial expression changed and she smiled as they drove closer and closer to her house.
Ryan got out of his car and followed after her up to the front door of the house. Already, he could smell a lot of human activity being there. The police had stopped the investigation at the house and left at around 3:00 that morning. There was no one else inside that Ryan could sense.
Ryan followed after her into the house then he shut the door slowly behind them. The living room looked normal enough until he walked toward the kitchen and found faint blood stains on the ground where the two areas met. His hand brushed against the counter as he walked toward it and he stopped moving. He inhaled slowly, and he felt a familiar sense like from before when Kiernan mentioned golden eyes. He knew this scent somehow.
Ryan was brought out of his sensory state when he heard Kiernan slump against a wall. He walked over to her and knelt down in front of her. "You look pretty pale, and that's coming from a vampire," he said then he added "Sorry. I guess that was a bad joke." He helped her onto her feet and guided to a couch sitting her down.
"Anytime," Ryan said then he walked into the living room and got a glass of water for Kiernan. There was a stack of mail still on the counter that was dated back a few days ago. He shrugged and brought that over to Kiernan as well. He handed her the glass then the mail. "Vampire postal, at your service," he said then he sat down beside her.
"I guess I could learn a thing or toe from you," Ryan admitted with a side smile at her. He was concerned when he saw that she looked even more pale than before. He thought it may have been something that he had said, then he realized that her eyes were fixed on a letter in her hands. He faced her now and he asked "What is it?"
Ryan was caught off guard by this gesture since she had previously kept him at a far distance since he wasn't human. He was oddly touched by this, and one of his arms wrapped around her holding her close while she sobbed into him.
"Hold on a second. What are you talking about? Where are you going, and who are they going to kill?" Ryan asked as he held onto her arms. He wasn't holding them tightly. Despite his strength, he was holding onto her arms in a comforting way.
"He'll kill you if you go alone. And odds are, there will be other vampires there that will want to kill you before he does. It won't be safe," Ryan said.
Ryan's hands let go of her arms. "Well if you're going, then I'm going with you. There's no way in hell that you're doing this by yourself," he said.
"Why indeed?" Ryan thought to himself. He hadn't realized that he had formed a sudden want to keep this girl safe and out of harm's way no matter what. He still remembered the cold words and threats that he gave her when he promised to turn her into the police. "Because I promised that I would help you see this through to the end," he said.
"Well if we're going to need to get some clothes, we're going to need some money to buy it with," Ryan said then he produced an envelope from his jacket and handed it to her. It was filled with cash, and none of the bills were below a $20 bill.
"One of the reasons I've survived this long is because I somehow have a considerable amount of wealth to my name," Ryan said with a smirk. "And any day is alright with me," he said with a shrug.
Ryan grinned at her exposing his perfect white teeth. "I don't think any of them would enough to steal money from me if they're human. And even if they're my kind, they wouldn't last a day if I caught them trying to pull a fast one on me," he said.
"I just hope that the tux is for me, and the dress is for you," Ryan said to her then he got up from the couch.
"I mean I've got some pretty good looking legs, but I don't want to show them off," Ryan said with a sheepish smile then he laughed.
( I like it. My original idea was to have the man who wants Kiernan dead is actually Ryan's brother. The two were supposed to lead an army against the human race, but Ryan had begun to grow soft and feel pity for the humans. Ryan was ordered to kill one of the humans who was supposed to be a regular blood source, and it was Kiernan's mother. He couldn't bring himself to do it, so he let her go. The man then ordered the execution of Ryan, and Ryan was almost killed. Instead, his memories were lost of his past, and he doesn't remember anything. )Ryan got up from the couch that they had been sitting in. To the left of him, was a wall covered in photos of Kiernan with her mother. He averted his eyes from the photographs, then he followed after her to the car. He got in on the driver's side then drove away from her house.
