Lol...Naruto Rocks! (Katelyn, Haku.) Well...I don't like peter...but...Scabbers, (before he was discovred as Peter.) helped them from Goyle and was always good.

message 53: by Pandy (new)

Pandy | 637 comments But Scabbers is Peter. He just stays as Scabbers because he's such a coward. And as Sirius says, if he made a better rat than person, it's not much to boast about.

Don't lyk Peter. They chose a good guy for the movie, though.

Tiffany (tiffanyyy_wang) | 1972 comments Mod
He was all fat and chubby.

Lol...Naruto Rocks! (Katelyn, Haku.) That's kind of a flaw though because when Peter was Scabbers...he was getting thinner and thinner.

message 59: by Pandy (new)

Pandy | 637 comments I don't see any flaw. Peter was a chubby person when he permanently began to hide as a rat. He remains a large rat until The Prisoner of Azkaban, which is when he learns Sirius has escaped, therefore he starts to lose weight. When he transforms back into a person at the end of the book in the Shrieking Shack, he is described as having "the shrunken appearance of a plump man who has lost a lot of weight in a short time."

message 74: by [deleted user] (new)

Yo yo yo, who says I'm ten??? I might be eleven? Or nine?

And yes, my sister is 15. I just felt like giving you a riddle.

message 75: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh really? Just like you knew I was listing the topics that I was thinking of deleting? I'm sorry, but I'm NOT going to let this go. You DELETED the list of topics that I was working on.

message 76: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm still angry. Nothing will change my mind. And you CHOSE to do that, you could've just ignored Tifanny. You could've read through the postings, seen if there were any important ones.

message 77: by [deleted user] (new)

Back to flaws.......

I can think of any flaws at the moment. Sorry, Sarah.

Come on guys, don't fight. Jenn, you know you're not supposed to delete ANYTHING without asking me first. You KNOW that. And Tiffany, wth?! Why delete it?

And also, why delete it and THEN make a new one? You could have just made a new one, saying that this list includes Jenn's and Sarah's ideas, right?

Sarah, you can make a new topic, although I doubt you will.

Interesting.......

I found a flaw in the movie, and maybe in the book too! Yes! Also in the book! Slughorn said, "One drop will make you lucky!" In the movie, Harry glups down, what looks lyk half the bottle. Then, in the book, Harry gives Hermione and Ron the whole bottle and he says, "Here, you'll need the whole thing." Does that mean that the more you drink, the luckier you are? Or does it not matter and JKR had a flaw?

message 81: by Swati , Is not active as of this current moment (new)

Swati (readerforevergmailcom) | 2208 comments Mod
No, when he gives the whole bottle, telling him that they would need the whole thing, he means that they need a lot to divide it between the 3 of them, I think. Ron, Hermione and Ginny.

message 82: by Swati , Is not active as of this current moment (new)

Swati (readerforevergmailcom) | 2208 comments Mod
But that right, I was suprised when he drank the whole bottle. Or half.

message 83: by Pandy (last edited Jul 19, 2009 04:11PM) (new)

Pandy | 637 comments The more you drink, the longer you are luckier for. In the book, Slughorn offers a tiny bottle of Felix as a prize - only enough for twelve hourse luck, he says. Harry later says he won't take all of it when trying to get the memory from Slughorn because he doesn't need the whole 24 hours of luck. I think we'll asume Harry is wrong about the 24 hourse, since Slughorn says 12 hours and Slughorn would be more likely to get it right. In the movie, the battle is cut, so Harry can take as much as he wants. In the book, he takes a carefuly measured gulp - the effects start to wear off by the time he starts to go back in. There's not really that much left for Ron, Hermione, and Ginny. Not much more than enough for three hours worth of luck, each, I should think, which is all they need to survive the battle.

Haha, it's not ridiculous. It's COOL.

message 87: by Pandy (new)

Pandy | 637 comments JKR said:

"Ideas come from all sorts of places and sometimes I don't realise where I got them from. A friend from London recently asked me if I remembered when we first saw Hogwarts. I had no idea what she was talking about until she recalled the day we went to Kew Gardens and saw those lilies that were called Hogwarts. I'd seen them seven years before and they'd bubbled around in my memory. When Hogwarts occurred to me as a name for the school, I had no idea where it came from."

I think (and based on other sites) JKR means she might have got the idea from the hogwort plant at Kew Gardens, since the plant isn't really called hogwart.

message 88: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay In the fourth book, they do this big huge thing of making Harry be in the Triwizard Tournament and everything, and then making sure that he got to the trophy first which was the portkey. What I don't understand is, why didn't Moody just invite Harry over for a cup of tea one day and make the cup of tea be a portkey? It would've been much simpler.

message 89: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay It's true that the book wouldn't be as exciting, but if I were the bad guys, I would've just made Harry touch and ordinary object and had that be the portkey. The villains just got too into their plans and made them all extravagant.

message 90: by Pandy (new)

Pandy | 637 comments I've always wondered about that and so have many other people. Oh well, still a great book.

I think it's interesting that JKR said that GoF was originally supposed to be much smaller, but when she was half way through she realized she had a huge plot hole, so what she thought was half of the book actually became one third of the book because of the extra writing she had to do. Apparently, she also had to keep re-writing the chapter "The Dark Mark."

Like Crouch's story. Also the wand's connecting is explained here.

Yeah. She had to explain everything at the end. Must have been annoying.

message 93: by Ann? (new)

Ann? (semi-bookworm) | 10 comments Hey, sorry to dive into this convo, but I have to ask. In Goblet of Fire, do Beauxbatons and Durmstrang have classes on their respective carriage and boat? I wouldn't think they would just sit around all day waiting for meals, but they don't join the Hogwarts students in their classes. And how would they have classes on the carriage and boat anyway? Would Madam Maxime and Karkaroff teach all of them? Are they all the same age? Gah....I'm so confused...

message 94: by [deleted user] (new)

Hmm. I never thought of that. It was only really the seventeen-and-older-year-olds, and Viktor Krum was in tyhe library, but that was really only to see Hermione . . .
