Nos. 4 & 8 have hit my TBR shelf. Seeing To the Is-Land there reminded me I never finished the series by reading the 3rd volume. I see the library has all 3 in one book, so that's got to my TBR shelf as well :)

I've looked at #6 on your list a few times, but it's git several 1 & 2 star ratings that kind of put me off. I will be interested to see what you think of it Sweetp.

Just the title, The Elegance of the Hedgehog, is intriguing. Reading the blurb sounds like it could be a good story, but I notice it has varied star ratings. I'll be interested to see what you think when you read it.

Mmmm you have a very valid point there Kathleen. I recall the struggle through Angel at my Table and finding it much easier to follow and appreciate on TV. She can be quite difficult to read sometimes (got to be in the mood)so 3 shorter burst over the year might be better.[g]

Love the title! Have just gone to the book and the top reviews are great, so I've added it to my list."

She has a massively huge and popular blog http://hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.co.... you could probably have a look there and see if it is your sort of thing you find funny/inspiring.
(I dont know if you spend as much time on the internet as I do but) its possible you've seen some of the internet memes that have originated from her stuff - like "CLEAN ALL THE THINGS!" (http://hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.co....)

For example

READ ALL THE BOOKS!!

P.D.R. Lindsay (pdrlindsay) | 1760 comments Because I have so much reviewing to do and a novel to finish this is hard but so far this summer I've managed to - as well as reading my one bk a day -

Read a book...

1. ...you received as a gift
Terry Pratchett's 'Raising Steam'
2. ...in the first ten of your 'To-Read' shelf
sorted by date added (Languishing Literature)
Don't have one, books never languish! So will give you the old favourites I reread regularly as comforts 'The Secret Garden'
3. ...by a NZ author
Lanarch - Owen Marshall
4. ...recommended to you by a friend or BLK group member
The Memory Keeper's Daughter
5. ...from your local library
A Murder at Rosamund's Gate
6. ...from your 'real' bookshelf (Patient Bookcase Dwellers)
The Skull Mantra
7. ...from the BLK bookshelf
Can't find one to read yet.
8. ...from the 'Books by our NZ Author Members' thread
Can I count all that editing I've had to do for Tizzie?
9. ...nominated for the 2013 Goodreads Awards
Don't like any of them!
10. ...that you just want to read!
Reread all of Kerry Greenwood Phryne Fisher novels.

So I've read all these plus my usual one a day or two days. Can I have a star for my reading chart, please miss!

You most certainly can! I'll make sure it's a sparkly gold one :)
You do very well to read a book every day (or two). My average is one and a half books per week - more in the school holidays and less during term time.

message 15: by P.D.R. (new)

P.D.R. Lindsay (pdrlindsay) | 1760 comments Oh good. I like gold stars.

It's very hard to find the time to write about the books I read. I never get half of them down on my lists here. I need a secretary.

Writing the next novel is the priority but I have monthly deadlines to fill and the farmlet to run. So no time.

Sweetp-1 | 402 comments Oops I have been completely sidetracked reading the Wool/Shift/Dust books by Hugh Howey.

P.D.R. Lindsay (pdrlindsay) | 1760 comments The summer hasn't even started if you go by the weather. I go by the schools!
What do you think of Wool et al? I've been meaning to try.

message 18: by Sweetp-1 (new)

Sweetp-1 | 402 comments I am really enjoying them but post-ap/dysptopian is my main genre of choice. I'm on the third instalment now and liking it a little bit less but I think that is because I often find 3rd books try to 'explain' everything and I actually prefer sometimes for there to be unanswered questions particularly in these types of book.
Wool 1 is very short so it is a good taster to see if you like the premise/writing style without too much commitment. It's not a perfectly executed premise but very engaging.

Sweetp-1 | 402 comments How is everyone going? I havent got as far as I would like..might be a summer/autumn challenge!

message 20: by Lesley (new)

Lesley | 1594 comments Not doing to good at this end with any of my challenges Sweet-p. :) So much and so little time - or more correctly bitten off more than I can chew.

Promise I'll do better next month, but yep my summer challenge will be running headlong into autumn I'm afraid.

message 21: by Angie (new)

Angie (seren-lucy) | 1147 comments 7/10 is a pretty good outcome for me. It has been a very long time since I completed a challenge. The remaining three books should hopefully find a spot in my Autumn challenge.

message 22: by Lesley (new)

Lesley | 1594 comments I barely made it over half way with this one :(
Never mind, I'll see where the left over titles can fit in to the Autumn challenge!
